I'm just saying our health care isn't free. If you have even an average middle class salary, you will be paying more or the same as what decent private health care coverage in the US would cost, so the only difference between you and me is that I am forced to invest in it whereis you can choose to invest in it. Humanitarian reasons don't matter at all, the very simple fact is that you can't live a good life in a shithole country, the stench matters no matter what anyone says. Simplest example for the Americans: Trains are good even if you love cars, by the simple fact that they'll clear out the streets. Not having homeless people around sure would be nice as well, this has nothing to do with humanitarianism. To answer your question, yes it's worth reading.
It is the basis for a lot of fantasy slop that came after but it's not slop. Del Ray just capitalized on it's success by forcing authors to follow a formula based on it.
