There are one million books on WWII, but what are some good books on post-war/Cold War Europe? Specifically, books that focus on social and political developments during this time is what I'm most interested in.

The Cold War (and its current continuation) is the clearest example of good vs evil this world has ever seen

This but unironically. Even if it could be unclear to some during the Cold War era, the present day USA is the most unquestionably evil entity conceivable.

Collapse: The Fall of the Soviet Union
Mostly about the Gorbachev/Yeltsin. But also about the various plans people made to fix the economy.
And how Gorbachev's own plans and constitutional design certainly didn't make things better.
Is there a good book on the Soviet economy in general? Because it seems like a clusterfuck to me (in good and bad ways, mostly bad though)

>There are one million books on WWII
No, there are a billion books about WWII and most are trash
There are a handful of truly good books about WWII
>are there good books about the Cold War?
www.google.com
You could start by reading everything John Lewis Gaddis has written, his entire career is centered on the study of the Cold War
Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe is a great place to start if you want to chronologically get a grasp of why the 60s, 70s and 80s were the way they were, if you had no understanding of what happened to Eastern Europe after 1944 it would be kind of confusing imo
Odd Westads The Global Cold War which is probably the best way to get a sense of what the standoff looked like from the global south
