You can say it, and we should normalize it. I for one, think Dostoyevsky is the most overrated writer in the history of literature, because his works are just glorified TV soap operas with some entry level muh quote unquote "philosophy" to make the normies feel le intellectual. His success is explained just by that: he is a midwit's idea of what real /lit/ is. If you read his other works, you will get a real idea of how rushed his plotlines are, how poor his prose is, and how mid the whole operation results in the grand scheme of /lit/.

There's actually very little useless parts, maybe the part with the investigators and descriptions on how dude had jewel rings for no reason. Perkhotin's introduction feels like a filler too but he might have appeared in TBK 2 and the part when he has hots for the widow and criticizes Rakitin's poetry was funny.
