He's pretty good, fun to read. Very based and correct about third world immigrants

Every board on the site needs the /s/ rule that an OP must actually have something to say and at least six posts of his own. Zero effort one-post writing prompt spam is clearly the mechanism of making these boards less interesting to their users. Threads are too easy to start.

I put a lot of effort into my OP's and respond to mosts everything, but don't get as much attention. People don't want to put that much effort into engagement, even here on /lit/ it seems, though i still am growing to like the board compared to others. /b/, /v/, and /a/ honestly i see more high effort posts by quantity. Maybe its because im boring uninteresting and retarded, but maybe its because the more you detail your inquiry or invitation to engagement, the more "niche" the experience and therefore less general interest.

The worst prose I have ever seen, melodramatic to a point of obscenity

Clark Ashton Smith is a lot better while still being guilty of the same love of words

Very comfy and imaginative writer. His prose can take some getting used to, but I think it creates a unique atmosphere to his writings that wouldn’t exist if he used a more stripped down style.

Very good writer. Political views are of average quality but are irrelevant be that's not his strength.

Shadow Over Innsmouth is my favorite.

Mountains of Madness starts strong but becomes a slog. I like the story about the rat man named Brown Jenkin that lives in that guys house. Rhode Island is a weird and dark place so it's no surprise that's where he's from.

Most of Lovecraft’s work were not Cosmic Horror — they were usually either Weird Fiction (ie, The Shadow Out of Time) or Gothic Horror (ie, The Dreams in the Witch House). His Cosmic Horror came about when he wrote Weird Fiction and focused on the horror element of the strange and unknowns outside of human experience. What I really, REALLY like about his stories is that leaves romance and relationship drama completely out of it them. It’s like, the protagonist’s job is to go and do things he really, really shouldn’t be doing and go mad with fright as a result while stimulating your imagination.

Also, only Lovecraft could get away with such thick purple prose and make it work.

>what are you reading?
>what are you reading this summer?
>what are you reading and what do you think of it?
>age, sex, location, last read, current read, next read
It's all so tiresome.

The racism thing confuses the discussion - one side races to call his writing bad, to condemn him, the other races to call his writing good, to retaliate against the former.

I bring you the objective conclusion. His writing is not good. But it is fun to behold the attempt, the genre, which he is largely responsible for, is an interesting thing
