If you're looking for an edition rewarding for close study, the Allan Bloom is the way to go. If you're looking for modern but readable while still being accurate to the Greek, Joe Sachs' translation is good. Jowett is very readable, and has a nice older Victorian style, but he takes lots of liberties in every translation, making assertions into rhetorical questions, inverting word order or reducing two distinct words into one, switching out words according to his taste, etc.
