Do chicks actually dig a guy with a bookshelf? I don't even read anymore so I was gonna chuck all my books in the trash but I'm keeping them up incase a girl ever comes to my room as you know like a talking piece
>>24580318 (OP)so what you're like retarded now?
>>24580318 (OP)I would chuck & burn most of them, putting up a stable in place of the shelf for any woman and throw one or two most of them in the trough for her to leaf through at leisure. Illustrations and pretty books. Not some thick nasty smelling tome.
>>24580326Yeah something happened I dunno I don't even do drugs
>>24580329Good idea. Keep the picture books.
>>24580318 (OP)only the possibly approval of random women keeps anon from throwing all his books in the garbage, what kind books has this man been reading? Sissy erotica?
>>24580318 (OP)You should send them all to me instead.
I have 3000 books in my apartment and many, many women have described it as smelling "musty" "probably because of all the books." I exclusively buy old used copies from Abebooks and some of my books I found on the street after a rainstorm (my favorites were Bryce's Holy Roman Empire and Guderian's Achtung, Panzer!), so they probably smell too and maybe introduced mold into my books, although I kept them in the freezer for a while to minimize it. It's also possible the musty smell came from a towel I used for too long and that smelled musty, or from a mild mold outbreak I had in the bathroom. I also once had a coat that got moldy in storage and wore it all winter and female friends and girlfriends kept telling me it smelled bad. Many things can smell bad. One time I had a girl over and we had sex and as she left she turned to me, genuinely concerned, and said "Clean your apartment." The trouble is, I had. I have given up.
if that's your shelf it looks performative. learn to sprezzatura
>>24580318 (OP)Women might not like this selection, but I'm sure you could find quite a few autistic men who'd be attracted to you.
>>24580318 (OP)if they like you you're smart for having them, if they don't like you you're a nerd for having them. books themselves play no direct role. if they take up too much functional space in your home throw them out.
>>24580392I like how there's no commentary on Wagner or Nietzsche published recently, you really get the feel that this person has no actual interest in Wagner or Nietzsche.
>>24580554>I like how there's no commentary on Wagner or Nietzsche published recentlyHe has The Ring of Truth by Scruton.
>>24580554Most recent material on Nietzsche is still obsessed with his response to Descartes or just another interpretation. Old stuff >/= new stuff. Modern Wagner material isn't my forte but the last time it was brought up to me it was almost entirely about conducting or something. Old stuff > new stuff.
>>24580318 (OP)Alright op, whatever you need to tell yourself. You treat yourself to a prostitute while playing flight of the valkyries and letting her know you aren't a tarantula.
>>24580318 (OP)I think in general it is a good rule to have your bookshelf bigger than your tv. It's tasteful. As for girls in my experience they are on average more drawn to my bookshelf than any other of my stuff, though I wouldn't say they dig it per se. Maybe they think they can spot some red flag or they are just curious about the interests of a potential partner
>>24580318 (OP)Don't read to impress chicks. And like anything you have to build up to it. You don't go to the gym and immediately try to lift the heaviest weights you see, figure out what interests you and then scale up using that. I had a thing for those ''literally me'' style protagonists when I was lonely and lost in life, which helped me get into reading through seeing myself in those protagonists, from there I was able to eventually branch out to ''serious'' literature. Books help, more than anything else in the modern world.
>>24580318 (OP)I don't know what kind of women you're aiming for, but putting Wagner and schwabach on display like that doesn't have exactly sexy connotations.
But yes a moderate size bookshelf with some organization is generally a good sign.
>>24580318 (OP)>he brings girls to his room to talkdo your parents know you’re gay?
>>24580779He's so gay that he only fucks women. Just like Zizek real men fantasize about talking with women, instead of their hated daily reality of fucking sluts and turning them into 4 litre jugs of cum.
>>24580318 (OP)From personal experience, no. Most of the times I've ever expressed interest in reading, it's been the death of the relationship. Just say you like sports and F1 and shit
>>24580318 (OP)Depends on the shelf and depends on the chick. They like a guy who reads, they don't like a pretentious guy who overvalues the thoughts/opinions of other dudes who have been dead for 100+ years. It depends what you read about and why you read it and how much it influences your personal life. I read about /x/ related shit, which is totally cool with the types of chicks that i fuck with.
>>24580318 (OP)Editions of the Tristan and Isolde and the Götterdämmerung? The ones in the top right.
