I take the opposite position to McCarthy. I think moral choice is part of the fabric of reality and violence is merely a decision in this framework.

I think that man can do what he wills, but he can't will what he wills. I believe that McCarthy employed this ethical framework in relation to the Kid's character; a soft of compatibilism/soft determinism view.
