>>24591405The ideas have never been more prolific and mainstream, so the movement as a whole is proportionally the least compromised that it’s ever been, but the tradeoff is that almost everyone I can think of in a position of influence is compromised.
I’ve never followed Fuentes closely but he quite likely turned fed shortly before or shortly after January 6th. He was a Never Trump Young Republican prior to Trump’s first presidency and countersignalled against him hard during Biden’s term. The same thing happened with Richard Spencer. It’s actually amazing how prolific homosexuals are in far right politics; Thiel, Costin, Fuentes, Milo, Spencer, Giesea, Andy Gno, and probably a dozen others I’ve forgotten.
Costin is not likely a federal asset as he’s always discouraged his followers from getting involved in anything on the street and to keep a low profile. He works for Peter Thiel, who observed the wave of right wing populism during Trump’s first campaign and decided to cash in on the second one. Thiel has always been connected to far-right politics, but his ideas are not necessarily what we would think of as being conventionally far right; he is, after all, a homosexual (though in light of this post I’m starting to think the mid-century socialists were right about fascists just being closet homos).
