bharavi is probably as close as you can get, and i haven't read the whole thing but i don't think it's very close. lots and lots of poetry of devotion and personal faith from india, but it's all shorter form. bharavi does capture a similar arc to the comedy though, it's just tonally and emphasis-wise very different.
