I thought about this book yesterday. I started reading it a few years ago, but never finished. It's really interesting when it talks about the idea of a pre-historic arctic homeland, as in the myths they explicitly refer to a time period when there was constant sun for half the year, and constant darkness the other half. And that only applies in the polar regions of the world. Then couple that with the myth of how they had to leave their ancestral homeland due to the land becoming covered in ice and snow ... I suppose it could also have been Antarctica, it's really hard to tell because those features apply to both the north and the south poles, but nowhere else in the world would those circumstances be applicable.

As far as Gothic architecture goes, the form and design of the gothic arch looks like a ship prow turned upright, and combined together in multiples, and then combined with the aesthetics of Anglo Saxon and similar decorative techniques, however, the buildings were build from masonry, which has distinctly different physical and engineering characteristics than wood.
Iraqi reed buildings are also to a certain extent similar, but reed architecture also has very different characteristics than stone.
