Do you let people buy you books for birthdays/Christmas?
I usually hand people a booklist and tell them to pick something from that list. Otherwise I get femgooner slop or a Rachel Maddow/Sean Hannity book.
Booklist is a good idea. If they actually read one of the books on there, they could also gift you similar books as a surprise. I think it’s good in general to talk to others about what you’re reading: it gives the other person an idea of what your tastes are, and you both are enriched from that conversation. Assuming it’s not just infodumping and pseudery.
>>24611791 (OP)I let my women buy me whatever books they desire, but I do not read them.
>>24611791 (OP)Winona was so pretty in Lucas. I've never seen someone so effortlessly radiant. And no I don't let anyone buy me books at all.
>>24611791 (OP)>Do you let people buy you books for birthdays/Christmas?What kind of grown ass man has people buy things for them on Christmas, let alone celebrate their birthday lmao. In any case, I buy people books if I know that they read, and since I read people really well, my gifts are usually well received.
I just let people buy me whatever books they want. Maybe they'll surprise me. I'll buy/borrow the books I want.
>>24611791 (OP)I haven't received a birthday or Christmas gift in years, but handing people a list of books and telling them to pick something off seems incredibly autistic.
>>24611791 (OP)Just Amazon cards usually. I've amassed about 3,000 books now.
>>24612071Hair's a bit short for my taste honestly
>>24611791 (OP)Yeah, I've got an Amazon wishlist that I keep about 50 books on among other things, though sometimes people will just buy me a book they think I'd like.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'let people.' If somebody goes to a shop, without my knowledge, and purchases an item with the intention of gifting it to me, how am I meant to do anything about it? Of course I'd rather they not, but it isn't up to me.
