He is an anglo bootlicker though but that's because his works appealed to anglos wanting to look like pseudointellectuals by reading exotic literature from the global south. Borges does NOT represent the latin american literary tradition in the slightest

I dunno why but this is true. My pleb take is that you can express many more ideas with less syllables and with a larger palette of influences in English. Whereas with Spanish it takes more words to express roughly the same idea and you don't have much flexibility with outside influence. In English you could slip in a German word and have it sound natural (e.g. zeitgeist) whereas with Spanish it'll stick out like a sore thumb AND they have the dumb grammatical rule that any outside language word has to be written in quotes (i.e. El "zeitgeist" de nuestro tiempo.)

I love Spanish, don't get me wrong. It has an elegance to it. But I prefer writing in English a lot more.

I was talking about calling someone an english imperialism supporter for simply affirming that he likes more english use of words over spanish.
That way of thinking minimizes the problem by assigning it to unrelated cases.
