That's not even true though. I'm by no means a fan of GRRMs work anymore, I long stopped caring about ASAIF but you clearly never even read those books. Virtue, honor, duty and penance are all themes that are present throughout the story. Many characters are far more nuanced than something you could sum up as "people are bad lmao". There are some 1 dimensional characters who are all evil like Ramsay and Joffrey just like there are some who are all good, like Ned or John Snow, but many of the fan favorite characters like Jaime, Tyrion, Stannis, the Hound, Theon etc are usually the ones who are deeply flawed, who have done bad things for what they thought were the right reasons, but who also went through penance and try to make up for their past mistakes. If there is one thing GRRM does really well, it's that he can write complex, 3 dimensional characters that people can relate to.
