General idealism thread.

Topic for today: What does idealism teach us about religion and God?
Sub-topic: Was Hegel a Christian or a crypto-atheist?

I like how idealism tends to take a middle ground between fedoras and trad bullshit, though in different ways in each of these thinkers. What do YOU say???

>Das wahre ist das ganze

Officially Hegel claimed to be Lutheran. He also thought Christianity was the culmination of religion.

Unofficially there was a brief window of his thinking that skewed atheistic. You should also keep in mind Hegel thought absolute spirit transcended any given individual deity and his dialectic derivations leave it clear that 'all' of them evolve. This frequently gives an impression of heresy to any given religion, and a number of his specific thoughts are considered heretical even by his designated consummate religion.

My opinion is that Hegel was likely fixated on synthesizing. Only extensive practice can achieve this regardless of who does it. In order to do it at all you open a laboratory and even if you don't blatantly admit to treating them all as esoteric you will likely in effect be doing this. Whether you are atheist or not, if you choose to partake in the dialectic then you will acquire world spirits and reconciliation is inevitable.

They really were wizards—which is why they filter so hard. "Bro what do you mean there was a period of time between the Enlightenment and Industrialization when the highest iq people believed in a metaphysics that accounted for magical phenomena, that's impossible right- RIGHT????"

He's only atheist in the sense apophatic theology is atheist, i.e., in only in the sense that midwits and retards get filtered by the phrase "God does not exist".
