It's one thing to argue that God might have reasons for allowing evil (the logical problem). But given the scale and intensity of seemingly gratuitous suffering (e.g., childhood cancer, natural disasters), is it reasonable to believe such reasons actually exist? What could those reasons possibly be?

God gave us the free will to obey Him or disobey Him. Compare the suffering that anyone can endure in this world with eternal and endless suffering. Compare what can be inflicted on the innocent and what is suffered, forever, by the condemned.
