These events didn't actually occur, or at least not as described. The broader chapter reveals that Bloom, at least in his fantasies, is into dominant women (in the form of prostitutes) as well as scat.

But as the reader, if you have actually read the book, you understand the cause. Bloom's wife won't sleep with him because he allowed himself to become a pathetic, feminine, low T man. His wife cheats on him with a high T man, and instead of seeking to repair his marriage, reassert his masculinity, and have rightly-ordered sex with his wife, as intended by God, Bloom seeks out these deviant avenues to attain sexual satisfaction. Or at least he does throughout the novel, read 'til the end to see Bloom take a step in the right direction.

It's an indictment of our society as a whole, and the indictment becomes more damning and prescient by the day as the west slips further and further into disordered and deviant sexual activities, separating sex from its rightful place in a monogamous marriage.

Bloom's sex drive was killed off with the death of their son, but Molly's obviously wasn't. iirc there's a scene where he sees two animals fucking and his mind immediately goes to conception and then death of his child so there's a mental block there he can't get beyond. In Molly's chapter at the end it's clear she's still in love with him but she does want him to "man up and give her the dick" in a sense, and she essentially admits to cucking him to hope to get a rise out of him so he'll fuck her again; in the absence of this she says she'll continue to rub her affair in his face (literally, if she has to).
