God exists. That is self-evident. The real question is his nature. In many respects he has to be at the least uncaring and at worst evil. However, the existence of love, forgiveness and beauty in the world means that there is goodness in him also. Are there any books/religious traditions that explore God's moral ambiguity?

I used to be as anxious as you when I was agnostic, then I realized that all the God proofs basically end up with the result that "God is Existence-Itself" and so I stopped worrying about it. The more important problem is whether living virtuously is worth it when your vices are too entrenched to give up, and I figured that it is worth it because virtue is its own reward (like Existence-Itself is its own existence).

Any intelligent person can clearly see that the universe has a clear structure and order to that points directly and ultimately to a conscious creator. A child can see this clear as day. Atheism is literally nothing more than people responding negatively to the prevailing cultural religion and therefore throw the idea of God out simply because they find the religion closest to them absurd. What I am saying is atheism in the West is in most cases a knee jerk response to Christianity

I don't like Gnosticism. It's too all over the place and inconsistent (which in fairness is primarily due to the purposeful attempt to erase it from existence by orthodox Christianity). I think Buddhism is closer to the truth but it has failed to really pull me in. I do believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the key to all of this somehow but I don't know how exactly. I don't buy into the Christian narrative but the figure of Christ stands out like nothing else in the history of the world. What that means I don't know and we may never know but I believe the truth lies somewhere in that story
