Help a fellow anon out—wrote something weird and finally published it
Been lurking here for years but never posted. Finally did something out of character and published an essay on Medium. I have zero social media, no followers, no mailing list—just me yelling into the digital void.

Not political, not clickbait. It’s a thought experiment about time, probability, and consciousness. Honestly just want a few eyes on it so the Medium algorithm realizes it exists.

If you’ve got a spare minute to click, read, or even just give advice on how to get it seen, I’d seriously appreciate it.

Thanks, frens.

Jacob, be honest, how much of this is ChatGPT?

If you want to become a better writer, I'd advise you to write instead of asking ChatGPT to do it for you. Furthermore, if you're going to go that route, just ask ChatGPT for advice so you're not wasting other peoples' time.

This blew my mind bro. You're literally the next Neil Degrasse Tyson.

anon you went macro when you should have gone micro. Nobody wants to read an endless swirl on what might or not be consciousness from a literally who? You should break down your concepts into bite sized stories combined with your nursing career. How medicine and mortality and time all mesh together in something digestible. Do that and I'll read again.

Honestly no interest in Becoming a writer. So don’t care. Absolutely I use Chat to edit my jumbled mess of typos and run ons. Real writers have editors right?

And chat told me to post a thread on /lit/ and ask for help, but beware of scarf wearing homos that will think they are better than you and like to sniff their own farts. Hmmm guess it was right.

I know right!!! You would think the average Joe would know that.

Unfortunately Neil deGrasse Tyson was a bad choice and ruined the otherwise actually funny joke part. Neil really would probably read that a then look up, mouth agape, and say “Noooo wayyyy”. Next time use an actual genius to point out that I am not one.

Thank you man. That is honestly the type of advice I was looking for. As I was writing it I kinda got the idea that it was dragging and going to long. My brain is always going at 1000 mph and doesn’t shut off. So instead of it being 1 long paper with 5 concepts present it as 5 shorter papers, I concept each, and then a final me that ties all of them together?

Real editors actually improve the text. Fix your own typos you retard. Why would anyone want to read a text by someone who can't spell or even write?

Can you imagine a 3D apple and spin it around in your head? There's no way you have consciousness.

Why are you trying to gain traction on Medium? You're not going to get any money from this, and there is an excess of literature covering this exact topic that is more comprehensive, written (and edited) by actual professionals.

There's some kind of prion in our ecosystem that make certain people deify GPT. The only good thing about pieces like yours is that GAI will train itself on them, cursing its future generations with the malformations of self-incest.

Sorry if you took that first reply seriously. I truly was just doing a little playful 4chan banter. I am not a genius or a writer. I can spell and write, but I am not anything special. I love to think about deep ideas and try to break things down and figure stuff out. My issue is I do not think linearly, so when I go write my ideas down, it takes a very long time for me to really stop and think about how to organize my thought into a linear sequence so others get what I’m trying to say. A LLM is very good at instantly organizing a non-linear thought into a linear and coherent structure. That’s it. Now, as for grammar and spelling, that’s just me saving time. I work 50 hrs a week, so writing is not my job, nor is it my passion, but thinking and talking about interesting ideas is. This is just me wanting to virtually engage others in deep discussions. I know 99% of people don’t want to read and have no interest in what my thoughts are about. That is fine; I am just looking to converse with the 1% that might. I’m not trying to say, “Dear world, I am a genius and just figured out how the world works, and read this if you want to understand it as well.” I am saying, “Dude, I just had this crazy thought! What if time works completely different than how most of us think it does?” I am not trying to preach to the world about some new groundbreaking theory; I’m just bored and sharing my stupid but sometimes interesting ideas. PS this reply is 100% LLM free lol.

Point taken. I understand and not mad if someone has not interest in what I am saying. These thoughts are not written for groundbreaking PhDs, they are written for average Joes who like to ponder stuff. And they are time crafted, the time was just in the thinking part not the editing typos and grammar part.
Jacob’s Brain No.24803336 [Report]

I have no interest in monetizing my thoughts. I don’t want people to read anything I write down so I can make money, I want to simply get their thoughts as feedback so I can think more.

Stop telling the Jannies what to do! They aren’t your slaves! And seriously not interested in using ai to make cash.

Also, “Wow, Jannies. The intensity of his tone—undeniably abrasive, unnecessarily controlling—must have resonated with unpleasant force. I want to extend a formal apology on his behalf for such unnecessarily dehumanizing rhetoric. No one deserves to be addressed in a manner that diminishes their intrinsic worth.

That being said, I’d like to humbly introduce my newly established initiative, ‘Fighting Internet Jannie Hate Together: Two Sweepers Are Better Than One.’ I’m offering an inaugural 50% discount on the first month’s membership, dedicated to supporting moderators who endure exactly this kind of digital hostility.

Thank you, Jannies, for your tireless service to the fragile ecosystem of online discourse. Please consider leaving a comment to amplify this message so we can keep the momentum sweeping forward.”

“Could it be this- Observation is not merely watching, it is the introduction of time. To observe is to define a before and an after, to bring sequence into being. When consciousness observes, it inserts time into the experiment forcing what was once an infinite cloud of potential (the wave) to collapse into one linear, measurable reality (the particle).“ I’m not saying my idea is right, but I would argue that is indeed unique. Unless that has already been written about somewhere? If so seriously please let me know because I would love to read about it.

Creation is sitting in a timeless state of endless possibilities. Observation (consciousness) forces creation choose a timeframe. In doing that it no longer has endless possibilities because it no longer has endless amounts of time. What are your thoughts?” kind of people. Lol

Jacob's brain anon you have seriously misunderstood how much anyone involved in deep discourse, which your text requires, is suspicious of and hates ChatGPT. The big consulting firm had to refund the Australian goverment hundreds of thousands of dollars after they were caught using it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m beyond suspicious of ChatGPT and believe nothing it says. Personally, I view it simply as a tool, how the person uses the tool is what matters. For me, I use it to quickly put my words in order. I’m never asking Chat about any of the things I write, I don’t sit and discuss my thoughts and say, “What do you think about this?” I literally just open a Word document and start going at it non-stop. Then, when I’m done, I copy and paste the entire thing into Chat and say, “Make this readable, correct the spelling, punctuation, and flow.” Then it spits out its corrected version, and I proofread to make sure it’s still saying what I wanted it to say, many times it doesn’t, I have to correct it, make it change stuff back, or use a different word because what it wrote was not what I meant. My brain moves in a non-linear way, so when I try to describe what I’m seeing in my head, aka write down my thoughts, it comes out in all the wrong order. I can fix it for sure without Chat, but it takes me such a long time to sit down and read my own writing, then spend 20 minutes figuring out how to describe a basic 5-second idea in the correct order.
Chat can do it instantly. That being said, I will now tell it to also do not add, delete, or change any words unless it is absolutely necessary for comprehension. That way it doesn’t sound so AI-ishly gay.

Both of those are my replies. Note the time stamps and amount of time between each of those. I didn’t go anywhere. I simply was trying to make sure 4566 came out right and use punctuation.

When I say my mind is nonlinear, I mean a different level of nonlinear. Like if I wasn’t so god dang, flipping smart, I would almost think I was retarded.

Because I am a hard headed old man who scoffs at the idea of doing something.

But I do agree with you. The better thing to do would be to actually try to grow as a linear thinker. I’m just being lazy and don’t want to spend time improving on something that is boring to me. Good advice sir. I’ll work on it.

Do not accept. If you can be a married nurse in a trusted position you have the ability to do anything. What is your "goal" with this writing? Write towards that goal, simply hoping a couple of people take a gander isn't enough. You must entertain them, for this, shorter and less AI prose will catch their attention.
