I had mostly handmedowns from cousins growing up. Some shoes (boots, rain boots) , a lot of random equipment, skis, bikes. Kids grow out of that shit in a couple of years. It’s often plenty good for “generations” of them.

>Gregor is still an insect but it’s a good thing
>having grown additional limbs proves to be a major boon to his job, he’s twice as fast
>his father is accosted by hooligans who throw his hat and wallet onto a roof
>no problem for Gregor who just scampers up the wall
>mother is not going to be able to finish knitting a sweater for christmas
>Gregor uses his many arms to finish the work in a couple of days
>everyone likes Gregor and he can give them all a big hug at the same time with his insect arms
I’m imagining a children’s book.

Call me Isaac. Some years ago—four years ago precisely—having plenty of money in my purse, and having accomplished all I wanted to do the on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world.

I meant Church and family but neighbours will also do. You know they wash it beforehand right? Also will help with setting up the baby room, fixing the items you need, give advice, etc, etc.

I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage, like the despicable fabrication of the impotent and infinitely small Euclidean mind of man. that in the world's finale, at the moment of eternal harmony, something so precious will come to pass that it will suffice for all hearts, for the comforting of all resentments, for the atonement of all the crimes of humanity, for all the blood that they've shed; that it will make it not only possible to forgive but to justify all that has happened

He was an old man who fished with a young boy in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and in the last month they had caught eleven marlin, fourteen swordfish and more bluefin tuna than they could count, the last all splendid specimens weighing never less than five hundred pounds.

The old man did not really need the work since his lottery win the previous summer but he still went out every day the same as always. He enjoyed the glint of the sun on the waves and the creak of the mast as the sail caught the wind, and he especially enjoyed shooting the sharks with a belt-fed machine-gun he had bought a month ago in Havana from a corrupt official and mounted in the bows.
