Vonnegut is based but lit isn't ready to accept that yet

Jailbird is widely underrated, belongs in the top 5

I found this while sifting through one of my parents' old bookshelves one day. Is it worth reading?
Also, sorry about the cumstain on my chair. I had nowhere better to take the picture.

I think because he can write about a lot of topics like war in a way that's more entertaining and whimsical while still being able to make his points well. It's always somewhat close to absurdist.

What about blue beard? I seem to remember that being a favorite, but that's a long time ago.
Jailbird also great and as far as old man novels goes, timequake seems to have been pretty good.

I love Pynchon, DFW, Borges, Gogol, Chekhov, Joyce, Gaddis and Vonnegut. I respect Tolstoy and I despise Dosto.. so you know it's all a matter of preference. I think he's very entertaining and Slaughterhouse five really does have a lot depth to it.. I just don't think you ever read him but are regurgitating takes of others.

Looking for "objective good", "intellectual" etc is for fucking midwits, go read fun things, not everything has to be that fucking serious.

>don't think you ever read him
I've seen enough snippets to see he has terminal reddit brain. Same kind of heckin pickle rick style and humor. Of course I'm not going to subject myself to the whole.

It's the last thing he published before his death, basically just short ramblings about the state of Dubya's America. I can't actually remember too much of it, but as with any Vonnegut, if you like his voice then you'll find something to enjoy in there regardless.

Why don't you try reading real literature instead of YA?

Vonnegut falls squarely in the lower end of middlebrow, but your thinking and analysis of him shows that you have a terminal case of internet-brain retardation.
