I like Inazuma Plasma more than the side forms, the helmet matching the suit's color makes it so that it doesn't clash nearly as much. Although the suit being mostly fabric like the rest doesn't help it, it looks a bit too loose and wrinkly and that's made more obvious by the reduced amount of black spaces on the suit.

Boost looks worse than I expected from the sketch leaks, the new mask portruding on top of the helmet makes it look off and the new colors make it look gaudy. I do like the pseudo-scarf though.

The bow weapon looks nice although it being a bow seems a bit random considering the themes and motifs of the show. I don't like the combined mode though, since it only combines with the blade of the Breakam Zeztzer rather than the whole thing, and since the blade is so small it barely extends the length of the whole thing, so it seems kinda pointless.

Just finished watching Kuuga.
I gotta say the way the last three episodes were presented was really weird for me. I didn't realize that the intro was actually Kuuga's fight with Daguva and not a dream sequence and that everything else was just happening after Daguva started his killing spree.
And the last fight was epic but I didn't like how the last 2 minutes were just Yusuke and Daguva punching each other until they both fell down.
From the way the fight ended and everyone was talking about Yusuke in the last episode, I feel like the show was supposed to end with Yusuke dying, but the execs changed it to be more hopeful.

I think this kind of shows the whole problem with the "history erasure" concept.

The only arcs that really used it to show how different things could be were Faiz and OOO, and in both of those cases you get complaints from fans EXACTLY because they are doing dramatic irony with things turning out very differently from the series. Otherwise you get a case the Ex-Aid episodes where even the writers themselves in the .5 episodes noted even though this was supposed to be a different timeline and these were supposed to be different versions of the characters, it was hard to say what were the changes.

So, even if the writers had used the concept better overall, you'd probably still end up with unsatisfied fans.

I have a really good friend who is the most die-hard Showa fan you can think of. He has a great job, he's kinda old, and he's a former Kendo master. He's really fucking awesome and knows a lot about tokusatsu, from Gojira to GARO to Ultraman. His absolute favourite character is Nigo, because it aired when he was a kid, and it became his favourite character - he even has a specific era: the green-suited version which is the first suit revision.

We've had many many conversations about all sorts of tokusatsu, and he described himself as similar to Tojima Tanzaburo in terms of his passion for Rider.

He's not a fan of Heisei - he described Kuuga and Agito as "acceptable" but Ryuki and after, he just doesn't see as Rider. In spite of this, he accepts that I am a die-hard Den-O fan, especially after seeing my collection and explaining why I'm so passionate about it.

I guess I just want to make the point that there can be reconciliation between Showa and Heisei fans - both ARE different, but effort and guts apply regardless of the time.

newfag here, I finished Kabuto a few days ago as my first KR series i'm very surprised a common opinion is that the show drops in quality in the second half, but I thought all but one or two episodes were amazing. If a show as great as this is seen as mediocre amongst the community then I've really been missing out by not watching KR anytime sooner

That was ages ago, right now it's described pretty much like anon heard, though rather than mediocre it's just very uneven.

I'm watching the original series and I like how Hongo/Ichimonji beat up Shocker combatants by the dozens every episode. Closest we've had to consistent henchmen fights were the Jamato in Geats I think (Gavv's mostly came in pairs, not groups)
Hope next series will have more mooks, it's a pipedream but maybe the relative success of Tojima will have Toei want to do some Showa pandering (Hopefully taking inspiration from a Showa series other than Ichigo for once).
