What's up with The Shokugan Modeling Project line anyway? These are just extremely limited and expensive High Grades. Couldn't Bandai just release these as normal non Gundam HGs and not include candy or the pre painted parts? Most of the Robots in this line are stuck in Chogokin hell and never get kits.

I went with super glue for the stabilisers too; initially I tried drilling for deeper holes and adding cement but only one remained stable on both ends. I'm sure there are better ways to do it though, I mishandled it a lot due to parts falling off every time I tried to fix something else.

Candy Toys department is separate from Bandai Hobby and have no access to their super-optimized factories or special plastic blends. They still have to go through the old route of contracting chinese factories, making them more expensive yet not as well made. The candy/gum is an old japanese trick for paying less taxes (it's food not toys).
Honestly I feel that SMP is them overreaching and stopped getting them a long time ago.

It's okay. It has the normal MS frame issues but overall it's okay. The heat pipes are miserable to build because you have to cut, clean and order a bunch of very similar but different parts for them. I would say it's similar, but strictly worse than the 2.0 MG.

HMM is basically a Master Grade for 1/72 scale Zoids. Realize Model, which happens to be 1/100 to match scale with most Gunpla, is easier and fun to build like High Grades of the olden days. Bandai used to defeat lego 2 times and killed Bionicle and Hero factory, the competitors of gunpla decade ago, but how can bandai fall so soon and get mogged by Chinese bootlegs even in Japan while lego doesn't? Bandai's sale fall due to Chinese bootlegs dominating Japanese plamodel market while lego never gets mogged by bootlegs.
When bandai mogged lego twice, but bandai's sale falls due to Chinese bootlegs being black ships, while lego's sale rise.
Lego never does anti consumer habits like shitty QC, not making PCA series of model kits, controlling stock to cause stock crisis, making disastrous kit like shitpla for being Westerners being superior. Lego won't get mogged by Chinese bootlegs as no Chinese bootleg lego is superior than actual lego, for Lego has better technology, QC and never looks consumers down so they never gets mogged by Chinese bootlegs, like final warriors.
While Japanese plamodel market has been dominated by Chinese bootleg,
but lego won't suffer this fate. No way that Chinese bootlegs better than actual lego exists aside from military theme.
While Bandai's sale declines so hard due to Japanese modellers hating bandai's plamodels which are for scalpers, not for modellers and wanting more Chinese kits.
But Lego won't suffer like this as Lego knows that they must respect customers, so they never suppress stock, never welcome scalpers, never ruin QC, never makes garbages like unko and kkanbu.

The pre molded arm joint on my Shining Gundam just broke after top coating it. Trying plastic glue first since my super glue has glued the cap on. I hate ABS.

It'll take like 15 minutes, minimum, to dry enough for a follow up coat. The issue is that the topcoat is getting into recesses and pooling where it causes a ton of damage. This can be avoided by using water based topcoat. Mr hobby aqueous topcoat is great.

Anyone that wants a MG RX-79[G] Ground Gundam, Gunpla Style has them. There's some discount code on reddit to get 10% off. This is the first time since 2022 the kit has gotten a reprint and it's one of the cheaper kits to get.

It's a fantastic kit, honestly. Big fucking laser T-rex. Very posable. I particularly like how the tail is double jointed so each segment can move up/down and /left/right. Yes... Hence why I tried to avoid the ABS and went light on the PS next to it. It's also why I know it wasn't hamhands the second it happened. I'll probably just mask the part entirely on my RG God that has the same pieces, as well as do a light coat before I do the real one on the arms.

Some anon told me that I can apply a second layer of laquer as soon as the first is dry to the touch (usually within the hour), and so far that worked.
Is it also safe to begin masking within that time frame? I'm worried that it might still be curing from the inside and it might peel off along with the tape.

Anyway, plastic glue seems to have worked and I can still move the joint. Other arm seems fine so I'll just have to baby the right arm.
So for the RG God, it was oddly less satisfying satisfying to build after the Shining. I get they share a lot of parts, but the Shining 's Hyper mode was a lot more interesting parts wise. The beam saber effects being Katanas instead of the usual sabers was a nice touch. Also holy shit so many hands, 3 effect hands even. I think this is where all the HG hands went.
