Storyboards invariably look better than the final product in kids cartoons because they are line work done without the need to fit the Flash rigs. I'm sure storyboard sketches still looked good pre-digital, but the painted final products probably blew them out of the water. The comparison between sketch and Toon Boom (or whatever) is much more obvious.
