The Yaks and the ugly-ass bugs were horrible and deserved to be killed no matter where they’re living. Hippogriffs were meh, and the Dragons and the Griffons were so humiliatingly ruined from Faust’s original intention.

The writers apparently didn’t get that the main Dragons we see in “Dragon Quest” were teenage Dragons. They started treating those types as if they were the only kind and we never saw the giant ones again. It sucked.

And the Griffons just all have shitty designs besides Gilda, and I hate Gallus’s stupid fucking OC colors. You can literally make the vast majority of characters whatever color you want and there was already a blue character in the Student Six. Just let the Griffons have some pretty fall colors! I hate this hideous kids’ coloring book-level color choice shit. The Changelings were bad enough!!!

Not sure beyond the original Gilda episode, but hers would’ve been majestic and graceful, rather than yet another multicolored forgettable abortion. Also, the Griffons would’ve acted like Griffons. The original pitch for the Gilda episode said that her bitchiness was “true to her Griffon nature.” Gabby and Gallus are just forgettable ponies in disguise.

Dragon Quest is my least favourite episode of Season 2. I wish they'd kept dragons closer to the portrayal in Dragonshy. Plus, it raises questions about Dragon aging. Secret of My Excess makes it look as if dragon's grow up when they build a horde, rather than by just getting older. Whatever the case, dragon maturation is completely fucked
