I've always loved Equestria Girls—there's so much untapped potential. Imagine more stories where villains and magical creatures from Equestria cross through the portal, stirring up trouble in the human world. Each new arrival could bring wild magic, unexpected conflicts, and exciting adventures that force the characters to grow in new ways. And maybe, by the end of the series, they'd have to accept that magic is now a permanent part of their world—and learn to live with it.

It was a dead concept from the get go. It COULD had a proper potential if they abandon the generic retarded school setting and lean into the magical paranormal stuff, hell, the short movie with Sunset stuck in a time loop was a perfect example of a kid friendly Twilight Zone, something that's a fun scenario that also allows them to explore the characters. Sadly what the series end up was less than a mid fimfic story of "what if ponies were NOT ponies and instead were doing boring human shit for 80% of the time".
Don't get me started on how lazy of idea was to just make mane6 into generic teen Stacies school girls.

I enjoyed how the series embraced its nature as a Mahou Shoujo series after Everfree, I also would have liked them dealing with more threats coming through the broken portal. I'm still surprised they never got the chance to actually address said portal before end of the series, Everfree clearly set up it was cracked and magic was leaking through constantly now and there could have been a lot of ramifications for that. I like to headcanon the portal they found in the Spring Break special was only recently opened due to the borders between dimensions slowly corroding as a result.

I really like Equestria Girls but I gotta say the concept of "My Little Pony but with no ponies" is just dumb. If I were the Hasbro exec in the boardroom meeting it was cooked up in I would have shot the idea down immediately

Pretty much the one big thing left unanswered from EqG that everyone was waiting on an answer on, I don't think there were any other plot threads left hanging.
Supposedly Nick Confalone had a special in mind for it

Going by this summary, it definitely sounds like that had some kind of dark fate in store for her, but the part about 'imbalance' leads me to believe that if pony Sunset came to human world and took human Sunset's place, then human Sunset must have been sent to pony world to take pony Sunset's place

I agree with the logic that Human Sunset's upbringing / personality would reflect Pony Sunset's, but I don't think she'd be a runaway - there were specific circumstances being taught under Celestia in Equestria that led to horse Shim running away.

I just think Human Sunset would still have a bad relation with her family and would still be a good student, but is just still a manipulative alpha bitch using others to get what she wants because she didn't go through the experiences Pony Sunset did to dissuade her from that path. It would probably create the most tense confrontation between the two Sunsets where Pony Shim is met face to face with a version of her that never learned to be a better person.

The reason I don't think that idea would work is because pony Sunshim is working through her past mistakes every day. I believe it would be more impactful if pony Sunshim met a version of Sunshim that never had any golden opportunities because it would make pony Sunshim wonder if she's just a bad pony at her very core. After all, if pony Sunshim became evil even after Celestia took her in, then what chance did human Sunshim have if there wasn't anyone like Celestia in her life?

It would also contribute to pony Sunshim's inability to redeem human Sunshim, because pony Sunshim's empathy would be overwhelming her to the point of inaction.
