>>42285555Quads have spoken. In NMM's defense, she got rid of Celestia and could not have foreseen the abandoned EoH suddenly gaining new champions. Her trying to scare away the M6 instead of attacking them highly suggests that she is relatively benevolent towards her subjects. So her debut might have been a bit lame at first glance, amounting to having camped in the Everfree for half a beautiful full moon night, but she's actually quite interesting a character.
Discord is the one who messed it up the worst. He doesn't even have concrete ambitions for conquering Equestria, he just wants to fuck around and find out, so gambling his kingdom away doesn't even matter. Removing the EoH for good would have been lame, ironically removing the chance for the single most chaotic scenario to take place, the "jinx" scenario: The very M6 who he made an effort to mindbreak break free from his control. He just couldn't identify this scenario actually ocurring for whatever reason, so he didn't correct course.
He was either too startled or likely too prideful to teleport away from the incurring Friendship Laser and would have been imprisoned for centuries had Celestia not taken pity on him. Him BEING released instead of breaking free himself means he now owes his agency/life to somepony else, which makes him less of a godlike entity. It's a mortal's thing to be gifted life instead of being a force of nature. That's a harder fall from grace than losing a kingdom of bugs is to a bug Queen who could technically just go and start over in the next best swamp if only she gitted gudd instead of going crazy.
