>>42338793I didn't give up on art. I gave up on the idea that I could fund a basic life off being a 'decently competent' artist online. I will never stop drawing, but I don't think the art landscape will look as it does now in a decade or soโpatreon/commission based models are hard to see persisting (especially for artists like me who are not household names). I might be wrong, but it'd be silly to pretend like that isn't a possibility.
I'm not trying to doompost either, I just want to carve out a life I'm happy with that doesn't involve slotting myself into an amazon warehouse.
Art will and always will be my favorite thing, regardless of what the landscape looks like and how it may change. I make it currently without payment, I will continue to make it without the expectation of payment.
Maybe my other post did make it sound like I was 'giving up' since it lacked context, but I didn't mean that.
Gamedev might be the only actual play which utilises the last decade in a way which could bear monetary fruit and pull me out of this rut... Or maybe I'll doodle in a sketch book and just work on a on a farm. Either sounds appealing. Blogposting is fagshit, so I am a faggot... but I wanted to clarify that.
