I miss when this show used to make me happy. Why couldn’t it end after Season 2 so I could just have good memories of it? Why did Lauren Faust have to leave? Why did it have to become so horrible? Why do good times have to end?!

I hope all that stuff about going to Equestria after we die is true. I can’t wait to see the real Equestria in all its glory. I worry that my snowpity may’ve been severely depleted. I try, but the canon really ruined the fanon. My headcanon was always cherrypicked from fun fanon stuff, like memes, parodies, and fan animations. I didn’t read a huge amount of fanfics due in part to my ADHD issues (which have gotten somewhat better), but a lot of fanfic idea would always show up in the fan art. I liked to combine those ideas with the show and with my own imagination to really create an awesome canon in my head.

It didn’t die until that finale. First of all, the events of the two-parter were so bad, they were inexcusable. Then that final episode was basically like “Fuck you! This is canon, and NONE OF YOUR SHIT IS!!!!!!!!!!!” All those terrible ships they canonized, that ugly Spike design, Twilight looking like a Celestia recolor.

It was basically a “Fuck you! Fuck your enjoyment of this universe! Fuck your imagination! This is CANON!!!”

I hated that! Stuck out like a sore thumb.

Anyway, Season 4 isn’t THAT bad. It’s like good fan fiction. Yeah, not as good as the classic episodes, but pretty enjoyable. My recommended cutoff is before Season 6. That’s when it gets really bad and harmful to reality, though your instinct is correct about those final two seasons being the worst of the worst.

I’m sorry, but Season 2 still means a lot to me. I do understand your point though and it is true that Season 1 is a nearly perfect season while Season 2 has noticeable flaws. I still say it’s worth keeping but I respect your opinion.

I SO wish I joined the fandom earlier. I joined in 2012 and I still feel like a newfag because I missed out on a lot of the real early days. I understand your preference, though and I’m happy that you got to be there so early on. I want to know how magical that was. When I joined, I did my research on the fandom, but most of that real magic I never got to experience first hand. It was still a beautiful community to be a part of, filled with people who know the truths of snowpity (even though it wasn’t called that back then).

I wouldn’t say love. I might’ve used that word in reference to what it did to the world. That actually triggered me at first, because even though I hated Season 9, I was trying to separate it from the good MLP. So I just didn’t get it. But in retrospect, especially after how clear it became what a bloody failure Twilight was responsible for, I had to warm up to it. Especially as the memories of Season 9 refused to leave me.

However, I would’ve used the word “shit” to describe it until less than a year ago. I still have some pretty major criticisms as well.

I mostly only like G5 in the context of what a failure Season 9 was. The universe inevitably failed, that makes total sense, and then there’s a bit of hope for the world beyond utter failure. It’s cold comfort, but it’s something.

I do see the point about it disregarding Season 9 in a lot of ways, but the two have to be in the same universe to me. It’s the only thing that makes up for Season 9 even a little bit.

I finally checked the series out after it was officially cancelled, and after I saw Misty in that (probably cancelled) leaked G6 or G5.5 pitch video.

I like Misty. I relate to her a lot, and now that I’m thinking of it, her story has a lot of relevance to Pony as a whole. It’s burdened down by the weight of this evil season, like a pony stuck with an abusive supervillain. But there may still be hope. Even if it takes a trillion eternities, there might just be a universe where Lauren Faust gets to fully realize her vision. And there may also be a reality where her perfect fictional universe is real life. Even if we need to reincarnate eight quadrillion times, we should hopefully find that universe.

Misty gets to exist in Faust’s G4 universe. I think she’d agree. Don’t know what her story would be. Maybe in this incarnation, she only had a happy life with her dad. I didn’t say she’d necessarily be part of the show. Her life can just be too happy for there to he any stories to tell. But she can still be in the universe with all the Ponycorn and hugs she could ever want.

By the way, I do want to clarify that I don’t believe there’s any ultimate hope in the G5 universe. But what G5 has is an evil Twilight that ruined history, and a giant fan of hers who would probably be disillusioned to learn the truth. Misty’s known her whole life what an evil bitch Twilight became. All we simply need is for them to discover the real truth, that Twilight WAS good but became irredeemably evil around the time she too the throne, time travel to prevent it, and then fade into nonexistence, knowing that this new universe will be so much better for everypony ever. They have to alter our timeline as well to prevent Lauren Faust from leaving the show. I think they’re good enough ponies to do that.

One thing I thought was interesting was after Misty saved her friends and helped them save Sparky, she described that action as being the REAL her.

This is symbolically saying that REAL Pony would NEVER support killing a kid. Only FAKE “pony” bullshit. It’s a way of saying “We know this show is pretty sucky, but maybe someday, you’ll have a TRUE Pony again. Even if it’s in an alternate universe that you won’t reach for over eighty trillion reincarnations.”
