OP, how exactly would you stop your mares from being jealous of one another? Polygamy seems to be rather impractical in my eyes because A. it breeds jealousy like no other and B. it's a lot more taxing, as you need to spend more energy, just for the mares to not be fully satisfied because they need to fight for your affection with at least 1 other mare, if not more.

Assuming you have a favorite in the herd, you will naturally spend more time with that pony, meaning that your partners are not being treated equally, and thus they will be jealous of your favorite and will resent you for not spending more time on them. How exactly do you circumvent that, Anon?
