I like her too since it finally gave her real character arcs to work towards. Unitwi felt like an aimless sitcom character which isn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't interesting enough for me personally.

looks bad, physically
her short time on screen does not involve her behaving as a relatable human we can root for, and instead has her pontificating like an old fuck attempting to pass off their personal experience as wisdom
we know almost nothing about how she rules at that point, but what we do know isn't great, by appearances.

So sure, maybe you "like her", but what exactly did you "like" "about her"? Like, do you just like that your friend twilight sparkle moved up in the world? Is that it?

>real character arcs to work towards
Except her character arc was drinking more and more of the friendship Kool-Aid until she was doing shit like opening a School of Friendship and not even raising the suggestion of stoning Discord after he almost destroyed Equestria for a second time, essentially because he wanted to.

There are a lot of criticisms to be made of G5, but its' treatment of what would realistically happen after C&L fucked off and Twilight was left to run shit on her own can NOT be argued with.

>behaving as a relatable human we can root for
Was that how you viewed early season Twilight? She had a viciously conceited personality and selfishly imposed herself on others, makes sense considering her upbringing. I couldn't relate to her much perhaps because I'm not autistic enough to gel with her OCD traits, but I suppose I was rooting for her to change. I liked how wings mellowed her out and she became kinder. The weight of that responsibility taught her to grow up and act like a role model to varying degrees of success.

Doesn't have to be physically, she was literally being a snob on a soapbox in one scene. Basically insisting her ideas and desires on others. The way she was trying to force herself in WWU and ruining everyone's work was frustrating to watch especially when she got rewarded for it in the end. Main character syndrome is another way to describe it.

Is the soap box scene the one from fpk or is that a different episode?
Look, you don't need lots of examples, you need one example. You still don't have one.

For instance, I still don't know what wwu is, cause that's an imposition on my brain and you will simply tell me if I don't get it, or you won't be understood, because that's cause an effect.

Now, pick one specific imposition instance. Not an episode. Not a vibe. Preferably tell me what part of fpk you were talking about, but any will do.

You really can't answer a question, huh?

Anyway, lets pretend you did.
>force (something unwelcome or unfamiliar) to be accepted or put in place.
In wwu twilight attempts to contribute to like a bunch of different tasks as part of a local volunteering tradition, which is the far opposite of imposing.

>1. bird nest
twilight sucks using her hooves so she gives up and leaves
>2. pond thawing
Pinkie invites twilight. Twilight sucks at skates, so she gives up and leaves.
>3. animal awakening
Fluttershy says help would be wonderful. Twilight sucks at it, so she gets hurt and stinky and takes a bath at home.
>4. snow plowing
Actually does have to exert any degree of pressure to be accepted on the team. Completely fails to move the plow at first. Finally uses magic, which immediately backfires. Aj yells at her. She cries about it.

And that's the only time she tries to force magic into their tradition.

Seems like a weak argument.

I don't think she was trying to "force herself" in WWU. She was a stranger to town still and was eager to engage in local traditions. Even her using magic was something she was pressured into by Spike, not an idea she reached on her own. I feel like her intentions were genuine this episode, with her ultimate decision to use magic only fueled by a failure to fit in and a desire to contribute in some manner.

Her character got completely neutered when she got wings. Gone is her headstrong thinking and sarcasm, replaced with doing everything an authority figure says without asking (authority figures including A FUCKING MAP). Oh and occasionally she's a neurotic freak because Lesson Zero made that her only thing.
S1 Twi is so much more fun than later season Twi it's crazy.

I think no one would have minded it if they didn't butcher her personality, but they did. I understand she's supposed to have matured a lot from the anxious sassy asocial selfish bitch that she used to be back in Canterlot, but it's not a gradual change at all and princess Twilight should have given us an even more anxious, insecure, introverted, and easily irritable Twilight for at least one or two more seasons, but no, she very rarely got to exhibit those traits anymore and she became pretty bland.

I feel you must have been retarded if you didn't see Twilight either powering up or becoming an alicorn eventually, and even if she's not as bad as some faggots make her to be, everything surrounding her is a waste. It could have been really good if they wrote Shining Armor and Cadence to be guiding figures for Twi in this whole princess bullshit, but unfortunately they just were walking advertisement.

That's the baseline arc for every single character by virtue of the show's SoL structure. Difference is most others had character-specific goals like Dashie and the Wonderbolts.

>>42312572
She went through a few arcs: Finding her place as a princess, building her empathy to become a more effective princess, following in Celestia's hoofsteps and mentoring a student of her own, establishing a school to better help the masses, then preparation to becoming the ruler of Equestria.

Were the Mane Six better in the Faust seasons?

>The early seasons were directly under Faust's control. Therefore, the ponies are the closest to her original vision.
>The early seasons were free from flandarization and tropes. Therefore, the ponies are closest to being authentic.
>The early seasons had better writers. Therefore, the ponies were portrayed with greater nuance.

On the contrary, the Mane Six were already victims of poor planning and Hasbro intervention almost immediately from the outset.

I answer that the MLP community was either too young (the intended audience) or obsessed (bronies) to notice these problems. Very few episodes grasped what made the entire conceit of the show work. The first two episodes show exactly what the show could have been in more capable and tighter hands. Twilight is supposed to be learning about friendship, and her friends are supposed to ponify the purest aspects of what friendship is. By learning from them, she is supposed to learn more about friendship, and that friendship is magic. How can she learn if she's the de facto leader? How can she learn if she isn't antagonistic (NOT a villain) towards her friends' ideas and beliefs? (Think of "Feeling Pinkie Keen" here as a positive example.) Why do her friends need to learn more about the elements they themselves represent, instead of learning a lesson from another?

Faust established a fantastic world and strong character foundations but ultimately lost the plot as early as Season 2 by permitting Lesson Zero to be created. The characters were already created with specific tropes in mind, from country girl Applejack to Audrey Hepburn-esque Rarity; despite Faust's attempt to subvert these (especially with Rainbow Dash), the Mane Six already felt familiar to the audience due to having a basic framework. As a result, many of the Mane Six were already one-dimensional characters without any nuance whatsoever, especially Fluttershy ("Dragonshy") and Applejack ("Applebuck Season").

AJ is the weakest in S1E2, but that's not unusual. Six mares are a lot to manage in twenty minutes. There's usually at least one who draws the short straw in any episode where they're all expected to get focus. See also: Rarity folding on her Element in ten seconds flat in Return of Harmony.

I think the problem with AJ is that she really just has the wrong element. In general, loyalty seems a lot more core to her character than it is to Dash's. Just about every descriptor for AJ emphasizes qualities more in line with loyalty than honesty. Faithful, reliable, dependable, integrity, always abiding by her word, always wanting to help everyone, etc. Nearly all of her defining virtues are so barely removed from loyalty that it feels contrived for her to not be the element of loyalty. Instead though, that label goes to Dash because she... didn't ditch her friends for dead the first chance she got, which is the barest minimum of what could be considered 'loyal'.
I don't really see what makes Applejack and Fluttershy more 'one-dimensional' and less nuanced than Pinkie Pie or Rainbow Dash. Pinkie is just a gag character, and Dash has exactly one episode where her personality is anything but 'arrogant dick that everyone likes despite constantly acting like other characters that everyone hates'. Dash doesn't have 'nuance', she was just given a free pass to be as much of a dick as she wanted because she was Fausts favorite.
