I just finished rewatching Turnabout Storm for the first time since it finished back in 2013. I'm surprised at how well it holds up. despite the lower visual quality, the voice acting is still surprisingly good, has some funny dialogue and reoccurring bits, and the story really is enthralling. thanks to it i was introduced to phoenix wright and i had some autistic obsession with it close to how into ponies i was. it's easily one of the best works this fanbase created, but you don't see it talked about as often as things like FoE, despite them both being quite big in the heyday. i guess it's because phoenix wright doesn't have the same staying power as fallout?
i also find it interesting how pretty much everyone who worked on it dropped off the face of the earth. for a handful of the voice actors too, it really seems like turnabout storm was their last project, at least under their older pseudonyms (i only did very minimal research into this so if i'm super fucking wrong call me a faggot or something idc)
that ending was so bittersweet, not sure if i cried to it originally but i had tears streaming down my face this time. i had forgotten why i always associated trucy from PW with trixie outside of them simply both being magicians and that instantly reminded me why. when i play phoenix wright i always like to think in the back of my head that his adventure in equestria is a secret he keeps close to his heart. like damn. i fucking hate and love that empty, hollow feeling left inside after a story has come to it's conclusion. i know there is a sequel and an unfinished spinoff but i know they can't fill the hole.
