In a world of fantasy and magic, all over the land there are ponies skilled in the arts of combat, magic, and everything in between who seek the thrill of adventure. They usually do so by accepting the quests offered by the honest populace that isn't short of issues for aspiring heroes to solve.

You are one of such courageous ponies, ready for his first real adventure. You are a plucky earth pony, and a bard whose songs will magically improve the capabilities of your allies. You are a particular one, though, as you've decided to weave your strongest, most lecherous desires in your music. As a result, your powers can only affect mares, and you can reinforce them in more ways than a usual bard can. Unless noted otherwise, all the companions you'll join on your quests are mares as you specifically seek them out.

You recently arrived in the small village of Meadowburg. At the tavern, as per tradition, there's a display of contracts for odd jobs that adventurers like you could take on.

>IMPORTANT WARNING
>This quest WILL feature fetish themes of expansion, size difference, giantess and growth (among other things).

"I think I'll take this job." You think out loud, while smiling at the barmaid. "It's a real pleasure to help the ponies of this community, especially when the mares here are so beautiful."
"Heehee!" She laughs daintily. "You're sweet, adventurer. Do come back once you're done with your job, I'll serve you some of my best ale to celebrate. I'm sure you're gonna succeed!"

You accept the quest and find the two other ponies that signed up for it, outside the tavern.
"Hey, dude!" Board waves at you. "Looks like we have an easy job ahead of us. 'Gonna be a nice little stroll in the grass."
"Hey, can you take this a little seriously?" Blueberry sighs "We're still expected to deliver something in a time limit, you know?" he unicorn then lightens up and shows you a smile. "Anyway, what's your name?"

>discuss with your companions
let's try to get a general idea of what our companions can do (spells/abilities), and also I would like to get general feel of their past experience (like are they as green as us, or they already done few quests).
Maybe do a small lore dump and talk with about why each of us choose to be adventurer.
>Using 1 mana on a companion grows them 6'' bigger in height permanently.
meta question, will we gain different abilities/skills/spells or will this quest be mostly about big mares (nothing against being focus on giantess, just wondering if we get some non fetish skills too).
Is the above ability something special to just protag (like specialized cutie mark skill) or something he happen to learn in the past from books/scrolls/whatever? Is this kind of ability considered negative/heretical or just another magical spell among many other wizardly bullshit?

btw OP, im guessing this will be mostly keeping a sfw tier writing, buuuut if you ever wish to write a quest with 'lemon' writing, I would recommend using "fiction live"

hmm, if you say so, it would be annoying if jannies would remove post or shove them into /trash/.
And yeah, its annoying quests die so fast there (not just pony) , trying to follow anything usually with interesting concept has a really shitty story or fetish inserted in or dies after three short chapters.

Whispering Hearts. As another anon said, ask about their experience and skills. Doubtful anything too drastic will happen this adventure, but doesn't hurt to be prepared. May as well share our skillset as well, as strange as it will sound to them.
What constitutes as travel when gaining mana? Would us travelling to the bridge count far enough as travel?
Didn't expect a reimagined Bard Quest, but I ain't complaining about more opportunities in gradually growing companion mares in all matter of ways throughout our adventure.

>>42330414
Growfag has ran plenty of nsfw writing here before, so they should be fine as long as they link nsfw images elsewhere. Curious of them running on fiction.live, but that's up to them.

I suggest the bard should be called Link Star because his music is capable of bonding and connecting with others providing inspiration and comforting soothing serenade for the trouble heart.

On the way in their quest he ask his two teammates how long has either one being doing quests, are they old friends, what is the plan to find the lost ring location, and what strategy should we do if we encounter fiends and any troubling foes?

"The name's Whispering Heart." You introduce yourself to the two mares. "But you can call me Hearty."
"Sure, Hearty." Blueberry nods. "Well, I think we're good to go."

You start to walk toward the river. The bridge where the client lost his ring isn't far from here, but it's hard to tell how far the valuable could have went downstream.
"This is the first time I'm taking on an actual quest since I graduated from bard school." You say at some point to start the conversation. "Is any of you as green as me?"
"Mh. This is the first time I'm on a quest too." Blueberry nods. "I hope we can make it. I learned many different spells so I hope I will be useful."
"Don't worry, we'll be fine." Board replies. "I've done a dozen jobs around here, and I have yet to encounter anything really dangerous. I could have moved away some time ago actually, you know, toward some more exciting destination, but I like the quiet around these parts. I'm not a big spender either, so I can get by with only one of these jobs from time to time."

"Woah, you must be a strong warrior then." You comment. "Surely you know cool fighting techniques?"
"Eh… well, I can handle myself in fights alright." She shrugs. "But flashy moves aren't my groove. I'm more of a 'survive to nap another day' kind of warrior, you know?"
"As for me, I learned all kinds of spell." Blueberry says. "There's so many little things you can do with the right magic. I guess I'm not… very specialized in anything, though. I just really like learning new things! This is why I became an adventurer too. There's so much to learn out there in the world."
"As for me, like many bards my music shall invigorate your spirit when we face a challenge." You tell about yourself. "I also have a couple aces up my sleeves to give a boost to any of you in case we get in real trouble."

While limited size changing magic is rather common, your specialization and permanent changes is believable but almost unheard off. As for how you came to learn such abilities, you found some old reading material in your bard school that resonated with you in a particular way. Your teachers where kind enough to help you refine that strange craze into something useful.
You became an adventurer to meet lots of giant cute marefriends to have cool adventures with. At least, that has been your motivation since you've discovered those strange books back at school. Perhaps you'll find better reasons to adventure along your way.

There's a lot of time to ponder the past, as this is a tedious quest more than a dangerous one that you face. It's been one hour already that you've spent cautiously walking along the river. Blueberry knows a spell to detect precious objects at a short range, but even with that you've yet to find a single clue about the ring.
"Mmh… this is getting a bit boring even for me…" Board covers a yawn with a hoof. "Hey. How about we take a break?"
"Please stay focused." The unicorn sighs. "That way we can finish this quest quickly and then we can all rest."

>A: Blueberry is right. The quicker you'll be done with this the better. Just continue searching down the river

>B: The weather is warm and there's no trace of any enemy. Nothing wrong with taking a good break and a dip in the water.
>Board+ This indicates that Board likes this idea and her affection towards you will grow as a result
>Blueberry- This indicates that Blueberry dislikes this idea and she will think less highly of you as a result

>C: You have a map of the surrounding area. Perhaps you can figure out the most likely position to look for the ring with a bit of insight… even though you're no real ranger.
>DC 80
>+20 xp on success
>Board+ Blueberry+ on success
>Board- Blueberry- on failure

>A "DC" is a number you have to beat for a success. You do so by using 4chin's dice roll by typing "dice+1d100" (without the quotes) in the options field
>Your roll must be STRICKTLY HIGHER than the DC to beat it
>Players collectively have 3 rolls for each DC unless noted otherwise. Only one roll needs to beat the DC, so if the first fails, posters can reroll two times.
>Rolls before the choice of a course of action having a DC will be ignored.

>Bards are renowned for their neigh supernatural intuition and luck. You companions will usually follow your suggestions as long as those aren't plain unreasonable.

>Meta
>will we gain different abilities/skills/spells or will this quest be mostly about big mares
Mostly height related abilities, but not exclusively
>What constitutes as travel when gaining mana?
Going to another settlement between quests only. It costs money.

>SUCCESS!

You take out your map from your bag.
"Hold on, let's think a little bit." You say, the two mares looking intrigued. "Maybe there's a better approach that just following the current."

Again, you're no expert in terrain, but perhaps there's still something rather simple that hopefully will help you find the ring faster. For example…
"There's a larger body of water further down the river." You tell your companions. "If the ring has been carried further than where we already stand, there's a good chance that it stopped there where there's some still water. I say we should go check that place in priority."

As you continue your search with a clearer objective, you arrive near what looks like a tiny patch of swamp land, hoping than the slower current could have left the ring around here. The first thing you notice however is somepony apparently swimming there. As you stealthily come closer, you realize it is not a pony that you just found.
"Look at that!" Board whispers, while you're all crouched among the reeds. "It's a Kelpie. And she has the ring! A good thing we hurried here." She gives you a friendly bump on the leg. "We could have missed her."
"Mmh… Kelpies can use magic and control water." Blueberry seems a bit scared of the aquatic mare. "I'm not sure it's a good idea to fight her in a place like this…"

Your notes and voice can be heard before your form can be seen. The kelpie immediately perks up at the music, and her eyes are one you as soons as you come out of the bushes. While you perform a tune inspired by sea shanties and stories of enchanting merfolks, she looks quizzical at first, but seems to consider your arrival as a welcome surprise. The kelpie calmly swims towards you until she's right in front of you.

Just as you see a magic glow start to twinkle around the ring on the kelpie's horn, you send a little bit of extra mana into your song.
The aquatic mare in front of you shoots up by half a foot, looming a bit higher over you. She blinks in surprise, seemingly more intrigued than anything by the sudden change. And as she wiggles in the water to examine the new perspective of her body, the ring comes free of her horn without her noticing.

You keep playing while the ring finishes to travel towards where your friends are hidden. The two mares do not leave right away, waiting a little more in case the kelpie turns hostile before you can leave. She has her eyes on you right now, but the pleased smile on her face make it seem like she isn't going to attack for now. Though, you should still make sure to end this encounter at some point before she discovers the theft your friends performed.
Solemnly, you bring your song to a perfect cadence for your lake-dwelling audience, all while making your best to ignore its monstruous nature. You finally conclude with a theatrical bow after your performance.

"My, aren't you an intriguing one?" The kelpie speaks, offering you a couple of splashing claps from her hooves. "It is rare for ponies to greet me with a song. Most are usually too scared of what I could do to them for that."
"The image of you swimming in the water was so pretty I had to put it into music." You reply. "How shall I enjoy the beauty in this world if I'm afraid to seize such moments?"
"An artist, huh?" She slightly tilts her head. "Is it because of your artistic vision that you casted this spell on me? The one that made me larger?"
"Well… I do consider size to be an important part of… let's say, Magnificence." You nod. "
"Magnificence..." She smirks. "Yes, I like the word. I enjoyed being your muse for this afternoon, pony."
"I'm glad to hear that." You bow slightly. "But I'm afraid I must leave, now. I'm already behind schedule on my trip. Ny name is Whispering Hearts by the way. And… how may I address you?"
"If you plan so sing about my beauty to other ponies, you call me Crystalyn as you do." The kelpie chimes.

You walk away from the kelpie after that, and reunite with your companions once at a safe distance. The object of your quest in hoof, you walk back to Meadowburg where you can give the ring back to the client.

Go and chill around on the field with both Mares (Im sure Board would like it and since we have the ring Blueberry doesn't really have reason to object since we got a ring). Maybe we can try to make a song to memorize our very first group adventure.
After that lets go to the tavern with mares.

Have a feeling that Crystalyn may not be happy with us if she blames the disappearance of the ring on us. But we'll need to see.

As for what to do next, offer the mares a treat from the bakery, and ask about their cutie marks as a conversation starter. We'll not only get to know them better, but also get a look how the bakery is. Who knows? Maybe they provide food buffs and the quest it is still available after we're done eating. Plus, we need more combat if we want exp.

It's still a little early to go to the tavern, so instead you enjoin you group to treat yourselves at the bakery.
The baker mare greets you with a tired smile, and some of her trays are empty. You're still able to purchase some delicacies for 5 coins each, and savor them along a little walk. You end up taking a rest on the bridge where your quest started. The baked good are scrumptious, pleasing your palate which is all you can and should expect of fine food.

"Looks like we didn't die on our first quest." You say, taking a bite from your brioche. "I guess that means we are officially adventurers, right?"
"Yes, I'm glad it went well." Blueberry nods. "I didn't expect facing something like a kelpie right away, but in the end we could pull it off without getting in too much danger."

"Seems like you were already used to that kind of surprise." You call toward Board. "Was it always your calling to become an adventurer? If you don't mind me asking, is that what your cutie mark is about?"

"Checking out my flank, eh, Hearty?" The warrior mare replies with a chuckle. "Well, if you consider adventurers like ponies that are too frivolous for an actual job, you might actually be right. I got my bubbles cutie mark while skipping school and having the most satisfying nap in my life ever."
"W-what?" Blueberry seems incredulous. "You can get an affinity for… sleeping."
"Yeah. How else do you think one ends up being called 'the Lazy Warrior'?" Board smirks. "And I'm living the good life in Meadowburg right now. The temperature, the sounds of birds and the winds over the plains rustling the grass… every rest is a delight in this season. And with this quest, I got enough coins to keep lazing around at least another couple weeks."

"W-well, I had my cutie mark when I managed to read on my own for the first time." Blueberry says to change the subject. "And ever since, I've always loved to learn new things. But I've been telling myself that I can't just limit myself to books. I want to see how stuff works in real life, so that's why I've decided to become and adventurer, and… and to see what good I can do with my knowledge out there too… Ah, sorry, I must sound so naive right now..."
"No biggie, Blueberry." Board replies after gulping a mouthful of her treat. "Don't let a drifter like me make you doubt your ideals. Chase your dreams and become the well-intentioned busybody this world needs!"

Doodling an idea for cutie mark, a heart outline with musical note in shape of little hearts. Protag gained his cutie mark when he sang a love poem to his teacher during Hearts and Hooves day, sadly he was rewarded with a mere kiss on forehead (perhaps that's his origin for liking tall mares).

"I got my mark quite early too." You recount, pulling your pants down slightly to show two pink notes incased in a heart. "I was the kind of colt to have a crush on his teacher back then. I wrote a love poem that I found the courage to read to her, and as she graced me with a chaste kiss on my forehead. At this moment, I received the confirmation that music was my calling."
"Ah, so that's how you got you got your knack for serenading kelpies." Board comments.
You didn't only do that, but now that you think about it, you don't believe your companions noticed that you made the kelpie bigger back then. They were focused on other stuff, and the change on a monster mare was subtle enough they probably didn't register it.

"Ah, but I also had it for me that my luth is made from salvaged dryad wood." You say. "Every time I play, she comes alive and it is her magic I use in part."
"Really now?" Blueberry gives you an incredulous smile. "Looks like plain old spruce wood to me. Dryad wood is never that straight, and it doesn’t withstand being smoothed out to that extend without losing its properties."
"Erm… I mean…" You stumble on your words while Board chuckles. "D-do you happen to be an expert in dryad wood, now?"
"Well, one book I read talked about dryads among other stuff." Blueberry nods. "It was in one of Wanderquill's travel journals. She's a famous loretrotter who writes about her adventures in great details. I really like her works. More than heroics, she loves to discover new ponies, cultures and legends and she describes everything that catches her eyes in length in her journals. I really like the way she writes stuff. Lots of ponies find her books boring because they seek thrilling tales of adventures, but for somepony like me who gets fascinated by encyclopedias and the likes, this is just that but with a welcome added bit of plot to it!"

"Heh, sounds like that Wanderquill lass is kind of your idol or something." Board comments.
"W-well…" Blueberry can't completely hide her embarrassment. "She is one of my inspirations for going on adventures I suppose…"

On that note, the three of you decide to take it to the tavern. As promised, the comely barmaid you met this morning has some good drinks prepared for the victorious adventurers, and you all share a couple mugs of honey-sweet ale.
As you do, you wonder about the possibility of… well, offering Board to make tonight's rest even more pleasant for both of you. From what she told you, she doesn't seem like the kind of pony to follow you on an adventuring trip around the country, but maybe it could change, or maybe it doesn't matter. Adventurers, by nature, rarely settle down and more often make the best of the many chance encounters they seek out.

Mixed on the several marefriends front. Last quest turned into a lot of relationship management in an attempt to not leave them jealous or left out, at the expense of gaining levels from quests to improve our magic for fun abilities, which made the pacing slightly odd. Only ways I can think of to alleviate that is to earn xp for rolls outside questing or to have dates with multiple mares at once, but I doubt Growfag is going to make the latter part easy.

"Would you mind telling us about other quests you did in the past?" You ask Board.
"Eh, don't expect anything too heroic." Board shrugs. "The kind of stuff I was hired for was being a bodyguard for some cheapskate merchants, or deliver some goods or cash from one part of Sky Diamond to another."
"Oh? So you're from the capital?" Blueberry perks up.
"Yeah. That's where I grew up, but the daily life in the city was tiresome." Board recounts. "I much prefer these parts, where you can just graze instead of having to spend bucks when you're hungry. In fact, the worst I had to deal with during my quests was a bandit raid on a wagon I was escorting to Meadowburg. Thankfully, with my companions we could fend them off. Since then, I've been helping around with minor quests around here like gathering plants or recovering lost objects like we did today."

"Sounds like you've done a lot of… well, grunt work." You say. "Sorry for the lack of a better word. Anyway, I got a hunch that your line of work would be a lot easier if you were a bit taller, you know? A bit more imposing?"
"Well, looking like a towering hulk sure puts clients more at ease when they hire muscles, yeah." A light smile appears on Board's face at the thought. "'Could have saved me the trouble of proving that I can handle myself in some cases, or even scare wanabe thieves enough to make jobs even easier. I know there are some variants of strength potions for that, but those aren't worth the coins for the kind of jobs I usually pick."
"Mmh… There's a chance I could help with that." You tease. "And I promise I won't charge for it."
"If you got the spell, I could certainly use it at times." Board smiles. "If you stay around Meadowburd long enough, we might do another quest together and you can show me."

You keep drinking together for a while, sharing thoughts about Meadowburg and the weather at this time of the year. You can't refrain from looking at the cute barmaid cheerfully trotting around to delivers drinks, and imagine how good she'd look with a couple more inches of height… or a couple hundred…
If you've gonna flirt with non-adventurer mares, presents, offering a drink or a date can go a long way to break the ice. Though, you can also just grow them without any of that. While barely anypony knows about you and your abilities, mares won't even realize who grew them.
But for now, as Blueberry makes a trip to the restroom, it's Board that you decide to make a move on.

"Say Board." Yous start. "Are you staying at the inn tonight? If you do, would you happen to seek a sleeping cuddle buddy?"
"Huh? I mean, woah…" The mare blinks in confusion, but you see the hint of a blush creep on her face. "Just like that? Aren't bards supposed to sing a song to their love first? I mean, scratch that, you caught me off guard. And, uhm, I am going to spend the night here, but, I…"

Typically, we would, but something about her wanted us to be far more honest and direct with those feelings.
Truthfully, we're shocked a beautiful mare like her doesn't have a cuddle buddy yet. Someone to share heat with under the warm blanket of the sun. Body to body as both drift to rest after a long day of activity. To then wake up in the hooves of someone who cares about you. Does she desire something along those words?

I can totally do that if it’s a dream of yours, but I figured a straightforward approach might be something you appreciated more.

Sneakily grow the barmaid. Doesn’t have to be by much, maybe we can do it a little each time we are here… see how big we can make her before ponies notice.

First, give her a shirt and kind apologies, as we were lovestruck with how pretty her eyes were to come up with a song that would describe their beautiful pink shades. Offer her to make a ballad about her. Sneak in a line that she must have a lot of guys chasing her since she is such pretty pony.
Throw some big 'old puppy eyes and order another set of pints to get yourself and her some liquid courage (I'm guessing not a lot of stations had approached her in the past due to being lazy bones).

Enchanted Mares=wider flanks, luscious milky crotchboobs teats, longer stamina, and more desirable pleasures few of the many juicy wonderful perks for having tall mares, so heck yeah Sneakily grow the barmaid to catch her eye she has the bard as a secret admirer now. As for board the lazy warrior compliment her like how her hair is white as the falling fleet snow and blue as the ocean breeze making her appear as somepony who knows how and when to take a moment to stop and gaze upon the scenery to enjoy what life has to offer when things get too much.

Not to be a fun killer, but we'll likely need to level up and earn more skills before we start growing mares in those different manners, which I am admittedly also excited for. I'm curious how different/similar our abilities will be this time around.

“A song?” You playfully raise an eyebrow. “Sorry, I thought that you would have preferred something more direct. That won’t be hard to fix, though, just gazing upon you is giving me plenty of inspiration. I’m sure I could come up with something while I’m lost in the pink shades of your eyes. I can think of a thousand ballads with you, about feeling the ocean breeze of your mane on my coat, and then stopping by to share heat under the blanket for the sun. Body to body as both drift to rest after a long day of activity, to then wake up in the hooves of someone who cares about you,”
“Alright, alright, you do have a sweet tongue Hearty.” Board chuckles, still blushing. “Sweet enough I might want a taste.”
You smile and attempt to close in for a kiss. However, Board put her up hoof to halt you, and she raise her mugs instead.
“’Might still need a bit of liquid courage first.” She gives you a wink.
You imitate her, clink mug with her and empty yours in one go, just like she does. You let out a huff as your cup hits the table all while the warm buzz of alcohol makes your head spin a little. With barely any time to recover, it is Board that gently pulls your chin towards her and locks lips with you. The taste of her mixes with the effect of your drink, like a rivulet of warm red dye colouring the whirlwind of your sensations. You end up inadvertently breathing out a soft moan as the mare lets go of your mouth, remaining close enough the faint smell of her mane still fills your nostrils.”

“Mmh… yeah, this isn’t so bad.” Boards purrs with her face still next to yours. “I think you meet my cuddle buddy standards.”

You and Board both recompose yourselves as Blueberry comes back. You have the decency to wait for the privacy of your room for what’s next, and the scholarly unicorn doesn’t seem to catch up on anything.

On another note, you’re also feeling heated up enough to slip a bit of height at the barmaid. She was about to serve some drinks when the mare in apron dress suddenly grows 6 inches taller. She jumps on her hooves as a result and start to confusedly inspect herself, but the call of a patron ordering another beer forces her to set this aside and continue her job, with a little more length in her cheerful strides.

Eventually, you call it a night and part ways with Blueberry who will be sleeping elsewhere. You and Board climb to the room you’ll share. There’s one large bed and a bathing trough with warm water, soap, towels and brushes.

>Any particular you stuff you want to do with Board tonight or in the morning?
Depending on how far Board wants to go, we could have a bit of fun right now, before cleaning off with a warm bath in preparation for a comfortable cuddle session. Also, once it's morning, make sure to give her a good morning kiss.
>Talk about something specific while it’s just the two of you?
After our fun, we may as well discuss how we'll do things, since we're more interested in adventuring and improving our bard magic. Even if she's not interested in questing, we can still promise to occasionally come back from a quest and sleep/nap with her.
As for topics during cuddling, ask a little more about how she grew up in the capital, since we're curious. We're guessing the capital was too busy and noisy for her liking? Also, broach the topic about our passion for... bigness in general. May as well be open with our desires, especially since we're going to-
>Grow Board?
-grow her, of course! Use 1 mana to grow and ask how she likes her new size.

You seek the mare’s lips one more as soon as you close the door behind you, her taste and the sound of her soft moans having intoxicated your mind. Wrestling each other tongues, you stumble towards the bed and eventually roll onto it, locked in a two-sided needy embrace. As you end up on top of her, you can’t help but to mentally lament that there isn’t much of her to hug, to caress, to sink into… and almost instinctively release a bit of your magic into her.

You’re lifted up slightly as Board grows, passing your own size by a couple inches. You feel her muscles expand, her thighs thicken at each side of yours, and her tongue grow against yours in your mouth.
“Mmh?” In her surprise, the mare lets go you of your maw and pushes your face away enough to see your eyes. “Huh. So that’s what this talk about growth magic was about earlier. You wanna be the little spoon so bad you even have a spell for it, Hearty?”
“Ah, it’s true that I have an admiration for larger mares.” You confess. “As I said, you’re really inspiring me, and I wish for my muse to be as statuesque as possible.”
“Heh.” Board chuckles. “Alright little bard. I’ll play the part of your big and strong heroine for tonight. But you’re gonna have to serve me a little.”

While she doesn't display any bulging muscles, at this point you had felt that Board’s body was pleasantly toned under her her coat, as befitting of the warrior she is. Now with the added height and mass, it’s no wonder she can easily make you roll under her, and straddle you.
“You’ve got some sweet verses alright, Hearty.” Board says while she moves forward, until her wet crotch looms above your face. “But I wanna feel what else you can do with that tongue of yours.”
As your smile only widens at the proposal, the mare proceeds to ride your face.

You diligently please Board, her powerful legs at each side of your head soon twitching in delight with each of your licks. Eager to please, you’re soon near-smothered by her the mare’s thighs as you brink her to her first peak.
While you’re still recovering from you head being taken in her hot grip, you’re rewarded by another kiss from Board, before she moves back to then ride your erect shaft. After a simultaneous climax, you both take a little break to cuddle each other and kiss some more, before the warrior mare allows you to mount her.

After another of these romps, you decide it’s time to make use of the bath that’s been prepared for you. The water got a little cold, but it’s a nice feeling to shed away the sweat and fluids your coats were caked with.

After drying yourselves, the fresh winds of the night give you a good excuse to bundle up under the bedsheet. You’re held by the now slightly larger mare, her gentle breath running through the hairs of your neck.

“So you’re from the capital, right?” You ask out of curiosity, before sleep takes you. “How was it to grow up in a big city? I’d wager it must have been too noisy for you.”
“Eh, that wasn’t the worst thing about it.” Board whisper her reply. “There’s some charm to the rhythm of ponies going about their business. It’s an acquired taste for a lullaby I’d say. What didn’t go right is that I never really picked up that rhythm. There wasn't a lot of hope on me from our caretakers too. They wanted to put us on a good path, but I wasn’t interested by anything they tried to teach us, and like many other of those kids we ended up mostly fending for ourselves in the streets.”
“When you say we…”
“My friends.” Board replies. “’Wouldn’t have made it out without them. Though, I still feel like I was the most useless of our little bunch. I’m not as resourceful as Glasses or Lime, nor as dedicated as Point. She’s the one who convinced me to join the city guard for a while since they’re always in need of more hooves. That’s where I picked up how to fight, but even them eventually flung me out after I fell asleep during one too many watch duties.”
“Mmh…” This is a bit heavier than you expected. “Good thing you can finally catch a break now.”
“Yeah. I could if somepony would stop yapping.” She chuckles softly.
Getting the message, you turn in Board’s embrace and nuzzle against her neck until you fall asleep in each other’s embrace.

You wake up next morning still between her arms, appreciating the soft hum of rhythmic breaths. As she starts to stir up and opens her eyes, you share another drawn-out kiss with Board, as a ‘good morning’ and indulge in a bit more cuddling before finally coming out of the bed.

“Last night was fantastic.” You tell Board as you put on your pants. “You know, I plan to travel through the continent, and see what the world has to often while I sharpen my abilities. I… I would love to do so at your side. Along a beautiful and relaxing mare as yourself, Board.”
“Slow down a bit now.” Boards performs a lazy stretch after putting on her pauldron. “I’d very much like to stay a bit more in Meadowburg. Your enthusiasm is cute, Hearty, but I’m not gonna roll with that.”
“Well, I can’t say I didn’t expect that kind of answer.” You nod. “I still hope that you’ll change your mind some day. Instead, I hope we can catch up if I ever return to Meadowburg. I’ll probably have improved my magic at this point, so I might be able to grow you even more...”
“That sounds good.” Boards chuckles. “We can meet up whenever you want. And maybe you can make me the giant guardian of Meadowburg or something, and the townsfolk will let me stay at the inn and feed me for free…”

When you’re about to leave the room, the now slightly taller mare comes to give one last kiss on the cheek.
“As long as you’re around, you and I can have some more fun…” She tells you. “And maybe do some more jobs together. Sparingly so.”

When you asked her what she planned for today, Boards simply replied ‘not much’. But what about you? Nothing forces you to, but you could take another job already.

I suggest we go check on the barmaid see how she's adjusting to her new body let her know it was us who gave her a performance booster as a thank you for the honey sweet ale she offered us last night and take on the job with the Mysterious hole sounds like this will be a treasure hunting quest. Only drawback is we'll get less cash but more exp but who knows maybe we also find some valuable minerals or objects down there that could enchant our bard music powers or fetch a pretty penny for us to sell at the stores to gain a money bonus after the quest.

You give one last hug to Board before you part ways.
"Hey, now." She chuckles. "It was already hard enough to leave the bed. Don't tempt me with more snuggling under the sheets."
"I can't help it." You kiss her back. "You took me as your cuddle buddy so I better remain on top of my game."
The mare and you appreciate each other's warm embrace for one more minute before finally going on with your day.

You decide to say hi to the barmaid before you leave. But she speaks first as you approach.
"Say. It was you right?" She shows you a frown. "You're the one who cast that spell on me. The one that made me taller."
"Oh, uhm, y-you're taller?" You feign ignorance, checking out another mare than now slightly looks down when facing you. "I'm sorry b-but what makes you think I'm involved with this?"
"Don't take me for a fool!" She retorts. "That warrior lass you spent the night with came down taller too, and she doesn't look like the spellcasting type."
"I, uhm… Yes, it was me." You admit, feeling cornered. "I'm sorry. I drank too much and did something inconsiderate."
"Oh, goodness!" She angrily rolls her eyes. "Please tell me the spell isn't gonna get worse! My head isn't gonna grow through the roof, right?"

"No, of course not." You wished you had enough power for that, but alas… "I'm… I'm really sorry. Has the changes been that bad to you?"
"Well… no actually, I guess it's pretty nice if things don't escalate further." The barmaid begrudgingly admits, calming down a little. "Thanks to the extra height I can give a proper scolding to uncouth patrons like you! I'm probably gonna roll with whatever magic you used until it expires. B-but still! I can't allow adventurers to just cast spells on me like that. Next thing I know I'll be turned into a glow-in-the dark duck as a prank or something. So don't do that again and spread the word if you hear of anypony thinking of doing it! Also, you'll be banned from this establishment if I ever catch you trying that on me again! Understood?"
"Aye! I got it!" You bow slightly in apology. "I promise it won't happen again, ma'am!"

On that, you hurriedly trot out of the tavern, making sure not to tell the mare that the change is in fact permanent. This got a bit awry, but since she doesn't mind the height, maybe this could be salvageable. You didn't quite get a chance to get her name this time either, though…
You had the time to check out the quests before you left, and that one about a mysterious hole intrigues you the most. You're gonna make a trip to the general store first.

>For the sake of simplicity, at least one pony in quests you partake it will have basic adventuring gear that is fit for common or expected adventuring situations, so you don't need to spend any coins to buy it.
>Stuff you have at your disposal includes ropes, torches, a lighter, basic writing supplies, some food and water and/or a bedroll for longer quests, among other things…

You can make sure you have everything you need at the shop. You also note that the store sells locally-made pottery, wickerwork and various wool or linen clothes and clothing article. There are also flowers in pots or bouquets on sale, as well as seeds for those and cute little bundles of biscuits.
Next, you decide to check the travelling cart. This one has more exotic wares, and seems to target the adventuring types as its clients.

The travelling cart has the following wares that may interest you.

>Mana potion
>50 coins
You gain one mana that can exceed your normal mana capacity. You have to use this point of mana before going to sleep or it will be lost.

>Return spell scroll
>30 coins
Teleports the party to where they each woke up this day. Usually, this can allow you and your companions to abandon a quest without facing the direst consequences.

>Rejuvenating potion of the plains
>100 coins
A powerful healing drought that fastens metabolism far beyond its normal capacities, allowing for all cuts and wounds to heal in a about a minute while it's active. Also allows for sustained continuous effort for its duration. In addition, heals from most poisons and illnesses (except alchemic illness). Lasts 1 hour. As a side effect, cause mares to lactate for its duration, and all drinkers are massively hungry at the end of its effect.

>Windborne mail
>10 coins
A magical envelope that once sealed will be carried by the wind to whoever is the addressee. This only works if the writer and the recipient know each other personally and that none of them dislikes the other.

>Minor mage's armlet
>200 coins
Whenever you use mana, roll1d20 and add it to the armlet's charge. Whenever the charge reaches 50 or that the current charge ends with 1, the armlet generates 1 mana into its reserve and the charge is reset to 0. The armlet can hold up to 3 mana that you can use in place or in combination with your own.

>Scales of luck (pendant)
>500 coins
While you wear this item, you may choose to reroll one additional time for any roll. However, doing so will incur one LESS reroll the next time you need to roll dice. If the next dice roll has no reroll, you will roll twice and keep the worst result instead. You may also tip the scale the other way and suffer the penalty on purpose on a roll to then gain an advantage on the next one.

Might be worth saving up for the armlet. Don't know the exact odds, but a means of generating mana is good. On average, it should produce roughly ~1.5 for every 5 spent (1d20 = 10.5 on average, 5 rolls for ~50 charge, meaning 1 for every 5 mana. And with every roll, there is 2 in 20 (1/10) chance of getting a roll that adds up to end in 1. Multiply by 5 for the other 0.5 mana). It's not reliable, but the number of quests we'll have to do to regenerate mana suggests that it's a decent use of our coin.

Hmm that barmaid is smarter than we thought seducing her will be a bit of challenge but we'll find a way to make things better right with her and have her fall for us somehow until then no more using our growth magic on her without her permission. Next I vote we should buy the Return spell scroll in case we may need to make a hasty tactical retreat against an enemy ambush we can't handle or if we're about to die from a really tough boss fight and we should also get the Windborne mail so when we leave Meadowburg to travel around the continent we can use it to message a letter to a friend/ally of ours or stay in touch with Board the lazy warrior to let her know about our journey and when we'll be back to see her. Finally, as for the quest let's not switch out our new teammates for the job with blueberry we need to build bonds and more connections with others.

You decide to buy the scroll in case things go awry on any of your quest. Better safe than sorry.

>You have 1 Return spell scroll

Now fully prepared, you return to the tavern to accept the quest, and find the two other ponies that signed up for it.
"Greetings, fellow adventurer!" Brass Compass greets you with a smile. "Let us uncover the mysteries this farmer stumbled upon. With a little luck we might find some historical artefacts!"
"Yeah! And old treasures full of coins to loot!" Bell ringer snickers, earning her a worried glance from the other mare.

Okay introduce ourselves to our group and let's talk about their interests. Ask Compass is she like an archaeologist and Bell is she some kind of gem mining worker? Then ask them both do they have any idea how that large mysterious hole came to form, what exactly are we expected to find down there, and have they ever dealt with something of this magnitude before or have been on other quests before?

"Hello!" You greet the two mares. "My name is Whispering Heart, bard at your service. You can call me Hearty."
Pleased to meet you, Hearty." The unicorn replies with a light nod. "I'm Brass Compass."
"And I'm Bell Ringer." The purple pegasus shifts her pickaxe around a little.

"My pleasure." You bow towards the mares. "As a heads up, I have a return scroll that'll work on all of us in case things go south. We wouldn't want to get trapped beneath the surface, now. Do you happen to have experience with the challenges of the underground?"
"Haha!" Bell Ringer laughs loudly. "You bet I do! I've worked at Mountain's Door for a couple years as a miner. I planned to take some rest in this town, but I can't resist the call of easy coins. I got a hunch we'll find some precious stuff in whatever cave this farmer found."

"Well, I'm not exactly an expert in cave diving, but I have some knowledge about ancient civilizations and maybe on what we may find in that hole." Brass Compass speaks. "If we also happen to encounter dangerous magic, I am an expert in identifying and sealing away such hazards."
"I see." You nod while you all start to walk toward the farm where the hole was discovered. "You're an archeologist then?"
"I am!" Brass Compass nods. "Well, I'll soon be. I'm on my way to Starpoint Keep to complete my final assignment before being officially part of the Seekers. But since our organization aims to recover and preserve all kinds of historical items, I believe it is my duty to search this passage that's been discovered. There are few caves and very little lore around the underworld in these plains, so I expect that we're stumbling on something rather small."

"And what about that book on your back?"
"Oh? That? It's my reference book!" She proudly levitates the tome in front of her, showing off pages that contains lots of text and magical-looking diagrams. "It's got information on many types of magic for identification and guidelines for dispelling that are specific to certain situations."

You meet with the client not long after and he brings your party in his field. The farmpony has put planks over the hole and then barrels full of rocks onto it to make sure nothing foul could easily come out. After moving those aside, you indeed come to face the hole. It is quite deep, but not so much you can't see the bottom. As announced in the quest note, there's a single passage that is made of crudely chiseled stone that goes north down there. A lot of dirt fell to the bottom, probably from when the chasm formed, but not enough to block the passageway.

"It's crazy that huge holes like this can just form out of nowhere." You comment. "Sure feels like I should watch my steps more carefully."
"It happens." Bell Ringer shrugs. "If there's a stone structure down here, the rain can carry away the dirt around it and make holes in the ground as a result. That can happen naturally too, but the way and shape the holes forms and whether it collapses is very random. Anyway, it doesn’t look like more dirt is gonna fall. Down I go!"

The pegasus mare goes first as the hole is not large enough for several ponies to descend at once. She secures the way down the rope with pitons as she goes. At the bottom, she lights up a torch.
"The passage is about 20' long before it gets into a room of some sort." Bell announces. "You can come down."

You follow the miner mare's example. Once down, each with a torch you carefully start to move forward. The passage is narrow. Two ponies could barely squeeze through if walking shoulder to shoulder, so you're forming a line with Bell Ringer at the front and you at the rear.
"I sense no magic in the hallway." Brass Compass indicates. "But there's a weak aura in the room ahead of us."

You cautiously make your way to a completely dark hall. It is about 20' long, 12' large and barely 5' to the ceiling. Just like the gallery, the walls are of crude but sturdy stonework. There is no other passage than the one where you arrive from.
As the flame gradually bring light to this shrouded alcove, you see what looks like a stone chest at the other end of the room. There is, however, a skeleton lying in front of it. And as Bell Ringer sets hoof in the room, the body starts twitching. It a series of ominous creaks, the old bones slowly rise on their hooves, and then turn to face you.

"Oh lawd…" The surprise passes quickly, and the pegasus mare is soon ready to battle. "Time to show that my pick can break up more than rocks!"
"H-hold up!" Brass frenetically searches in her book. "Just a minute! This doesn’t look like a very strong undead, so I'll have the spell ready to seal it in a jiffy!"
Meanwhile, your keen bardic eyes can't help but discern the fact this isn't a mere skeleton pony your face. It's a skeleton mare! And you can't refrain the crazy thought that she could be receptive to your music.

C, but have Brass get her spell ready, just in case.
Skeletons are usually immune to fear or charm, but not trying to touch the soul of a lonely mare is unthinkable. Brass would've probably sensed magic if this was a lich, or a necromancer's minion, so it might be naturally occurring.
Plus it's supposed to be weak, so it's worth a try.

You carefully walk backwards, the skeleton stumbling in your direction chasing you slowly until you're in the passageway again.
"So is that spell coming or what?" Bell Ringer grumbles.
"A-almost got it!" The green unicorn turns the pages of her tome in a panic. "Let's see, zombie… ghoul… mummy… ghost…uh…"
"Come on! We don’t have all day!" The pegasus barks.

But just as she turns her eyes away, the skeleton suddenly lunges at her.
"Watch out!" You shout, but too late. The undead grabs Bell Ringer and sinks its sharp teeth into her side.
"Arg! Curses!" Bell Ringer hisses. The mare thrashes about and can fortunately buck away the undead. Then, with a mighty swing of her pickaxe, she hits its skull which is broken to pieces by the blow, and soon the rest of the bones crumble to the ground, inanimate.
Bell Ringer seems mostly okay, but there's blood dripping from her wound.

"Gee, thanks for the help!" Bell Ringer gives you and Brass Compass a mean frown. "Really good spell you used here you freaking useless nerds!"
"I'm so sorry!" Brass Compass bows in shame. "But please. We should get you outside and heal that wound."
"Leaving right in front of a chest? Fat chance!" Bell Ringer retorts. "If you really wanna help, let's get this over with quickly."

There doesn't seem to be another danger and the skeleton stays down. Nothing prevents you from approaching the chest. As it not locked, Bell Ringer readily opens the stone box, revealing a small statuette in a small pile of precious-looking gemstones.
"Ah! There we go!" Bell Ringer purrs. "Looks like today isn't gonna be a complete waste after all."
"Wait!" Brass Compass interjects. "I recognize this statuette. It's a depiction of the wolf spirit one of the ancient animist tribes of the plains worshipped. This chest is an altar to that spirit I think, and I detect there's still some magic attached to it. If we take the offerings, the spirit might get angry at us."
"Aw, come on! You gotta be kidding me!" The pegasus mare protests, but the prospect of getting cursed keeps her from trying to seize the valuables.

"If you dispelled the magic of the altar, would it be safe to take the gems?" You ask Brass Compass.
"Well…" The mare sounds uncomfortable, probably still shaken by her mistake of earlier. "Probably, but I… I'm not sure I could pull it off. I'd rather write a letter to the Seekers so they send an expert to take care of this. This altar doesn't pose any threat if we leave it as it is."

On the way the back tell brass that we don't blame her for not finding the spell in time and cheer her up by mentioning how we encounter a unique mare water creature a Kelpie on our last quest without having to fight her but with our song to approach her peacefully and calmly address her without a hint of fear or worry unlike most ponies who do so we can get know a bit more about her looking past her monstrously state.

"Come on, Brass Compass." You tell the green mare. "I'm sure you can dispel whatever curse is here. You have all the time you want to focus this time. Would a bit of music help you calm down too?"
The mare lets out a sigh and forces a smile on her face. "A-alright. I'll try. Maybe I can relax a little if you play something calm."
You start pulling strings on your instrument while Brass Compass starts browsing her book again. You decide to help the mare with a bit of mana too.

Brass Compass once again browses her tome. In full concentration, she doesn't seem to register when you make her gain half a foot in height.
"Alright, this should do it." Brass says after a minute or so. She stands and lights up her horn, her book still on one of her hooves.
There's a crackle in the air and a quick succession of flashes of light around the stone chest, which culminates in an ethereal shattering sound uttering in the torchlit room.

"I've done it!" Brass Compass nods to herself. "I dispelled whatever magic was on the altar. You two can safely take the gems. If you don’t mind, I'd like to let the statuette here. Since it has a mostly archeological value, I'd still like to inform the Seekers about this place. Consider it my share of the loot."
"Sure. This statue looks creepy anyway. But, Mmh…" Somehow, Bell Ringer looks unconvinced by Brass Compass' display of magic. "Hey, Hearty. How about you go first and take these gems out of the box for us?"
"Uhm, sure." You nod, and go fish the stones out of the box, sharing them equally between you and Bell Ringer. With that done, you can come out of the underground room. You explain the situation to the farmer, who sounds glad that you smashed down some undead down here. You receive your payment for the quest.

>You completed the quest!
>You gained 50xp and 20 coins!
>You sell your share of the gems and get 50 extra coins!
>You recovered 1 mana (you have 1/3)

"I'm gonna get myself patched, now. No need to wait for me at the tavern." Bell Ringer says as she walks away, a barely hidden sting of contempt in her voice.

Despite Brass Compass having dispelled the magic of the altar, you can't shake away an eerie feeling that makes the hairs on your neck stand on ends. Eh. That's probably nothing.

Congratulate the mare on a successful job dispelling the magic in the treasure chest and he was happy to help put her mind at ease from worried to allow her to focus mention that he doesn't blame her for the failed attempt to not seal the undead pony in time some ponies can't work well under pressure while others can if she still upset about it give her a warm comforting hug. Inquire what are the Seekers? What is her cutie mark origin story? Ask if she likes the music hearty played for her back in the dark hole and the improvement he gave to her body?

"Wanna grab something to eat, Brass?" You ask the mare after you're done with the quest.
"Mh! Sure." The unicorn nods.

You once again make a trip to the bakery to get something tasty in exchange of a few coins.

"Today was only my second quest ever." You say as the two of you sit down in the village. "And the first one was yesterday in fact. We even faced a kelpie and retrieved a stolen ring from her."
"A kelpie?!" Brass Compass' eyes go wide. "Goodness, that must have been dangerous! Were you accompanied with more experienced adventurers?"
"My companions were heroic of course, but barely less green than I was." You reply. "Fortunately, we could resolve the matter without a fight. We swiped the ring back with a well-timed musical distraction. The kelpie even liked my music enough we could have a nice little chat after that. Her name is Crystalyn."
"Waoh… Sounds like you first went a lot better than… well, today." The mare sulks a little.
"Don't beat yourself over this Brass." You attempt to comfort her. "You did great once you had some time to focus. Did my music help?"
"Hum. I could focus a little better thanks to it." She nods.
"Do you also like the improvement it made to you?" You add. "I believe you have to look the part of being a great adventurer."
"W-wait, it's your music that made me taller?" This seems to worry Brass Compass. "But… I thought that happened because the magic of the altar went into me. But then… why did it disappear? Where could it…"

"Ah, l-let's not worry about it too much." You call. "In the end it all worked out. Anyway, you said you were going to become part of the seekers, right? What are they exactly?"
"The Seekers are a guild of adventurer focused on recovering and preserving history." Brass Compass seems happy to explains. "Three decades ago, late king Earthborne the Second ordered the recovery of some lost artefacts of our nation to strengthen its cultural base. For that purpose, funds were allocated the royal academy to seek and explore various ruins through the land. The academy, in turn, decided that adventurers were best suited to do the menial parts of such tasks, and subsided a series of quests they chaperoned. The cooperation was a great success. The royal academics worked in symbiosis with the adventurers, and many of the later became receptive to the genuine concern for the preservation of history. As a result, when a couple years later the crown was satisfied and withdrew most of the funding, part of these adventurers founded the guild of Seekers to keep the work going. While they now fund themselves by clearing a broader range of quests, they still have strong ties with the royal academy. They have a privileged access to many research facilities at Sky Diamond, and they're usually on top of the list when the academy needs to hire some adventurers. They also conduct research and exploration on their own now."

"How does one end up joining the Seekers?" You ask. "Also, I suppose they get help from other adventures in their quests, right?"
"Of course!" Brass nods. "The goal of the guild, really, it isn't to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Anybody can apply. First you sign up to become an aspiring member, and then you have to do quests along another member of the guild so they can teach you the guidelines for dealing with old artefacts and magic. Nothing stops you from doing other jobs on your own, though. And that's often the case, since quests that demand the particular expertise of a Seeker aren't always available. I was a bit of an exception in that regard, since I started being an adventurer because I was also an aspiring Seeker. But anyway, once you and your mentor decide that you are ready, you will be sent to perform a job that you'll do under the supervision of a higher-ranked Seeker to test your abilities without bias, and if you succeed you become a full-fledged member of the seekers."
"I see." You nod. "Do you know what your final test will be?"
"N-no, not yet." The unicorn looks pensively at her hooves. "Tomorrow, I have to leave Meadowburg to meet Crow Heart at Starpoint Keep, and she'll be my examinator. That's all I know at the moment. I'm excited, but also a bit anxious to tell you the truth."

"You? Anxious?" You show her a smirk. "I didn't expect that from a pony that grew 6 inches taller on a whim and wasn't fazed 1 bit by it."
"Oh, well, when you deal with old magic stuff, you have to be prepared for anything." Brass Compass shrugs. "I've seen my parents come back with weird physical changes more than once after interacting with unidentified spells. One day my father came back blue. Like, completely, solid blue. From the tip of his hooves the pupil of his eyes, and we all just found it was funny. The next day he would prank our guests by standing still in front of a blue wall, or played the tickling terror as we went at the beach the day after. Another time it's my mother that had an extra pair of legs, or a third eye on another occasion, and we all treated that like good fun. Really, I've seen a lot of transformations already. The worst was when my mother was completely disintegrated."
"Excuse me… disintegrated??" You do a double take. "Like…"
"Her physical body was ripped from reality, to be a little more technical." Brass nods, still smiling. "For a whole month she was just a voice coming from a soul gem before the guild found a way to restore her body. But even like that she remained positive, and even joked about how it was a good excuse to let my father carry all the bags and write all the reports. So, you see, a few more inches of height? That's barely worth mentioning I say."
Brass Compass Chuckles "You're gonna have to find something better if you want to surprise me, Hearty."

"Well, I'm just happy that you don't dislike the change. But if I can't move you with the magic of my spells…" You pick up your mandolin "Maybe the one of my music will work."
In front of a dumbfounded Brass Compass, you start singing her praise along a bit of music, lauding the harmony of her colors and the gentleness of her soul.
"Okay, p-please stop now." A green turned beet-red unicorn asks.
But stop, you do not, and keep chanting to the world about the greatness of the mare in front of you. As you attempt to take her hoof into yours, that's the last straw for Brass Compass and she jumps on you to physically take the luth away from your hooves.
"That's it Hearty!" She yaps in the cacophony of hindered notes. "It's time to STOP!"
"But why?" You exaggerate your protest. "Can't you enjoy a love serenade played on an instrument made from a spruce dryad's wood? Those are most romantic of all dryads."
"NO." She vigorously shakes her head, nearly poking your eye out with her horn. "I definitely CAN'T and I don't care about your dryad luth! P-please… I don't think I've ever felt this embarrassed ever…"
"Oh, uhm… well, my apologies, then." You stifle your poetic impetus, and Brass Compass stops trying to steal your guitar. "It's just... I was wondering if we could maybe travel together. Meadowburg is only the beginning of my adventure, and I wouldn't mind discovering Starpoint Keep with you."

"That I wouldn't mind." Brass Compass harrumphs and calms down. "Travelling with somepony I know already would make the way mare pleasant. As long as you don’t spend the whole trip singing about me at least."
"Brass, you can't ask a bard not to sing during a road trip between adventurers!" Again, you theatrically protest. "You're asking me to remove the living blood from my veins!"
The unicorn gives you a giggle and a smile in response.

We should perhaps avoid having an interaction between Board and Brass with us in the picture. If Brass witnesses Board getting comfy with us in the tavern, then that's going to send a bad message of our character, especially if anons are serious about Brass.

What time is it? If there's still daylight, look for another job at the tavern and see if we can complete that witch quest before we leave Meadowburg. We can hopefully complete it by nightfall.

You part ways with Brass Compass and decide to look for jobs at the tavern. If your decision about accompanying Brass Compass is final, this will be the last quest you do in Meadowburg for a while. You still have the option to remain longer in Meadowburg if you want. There haven't been new jobs since this morning, so what's left is…

>AVAILABLE QUESTS

Goblin pilferers!
>Client: Sugar Loaf, village baker
>Some goblins have made an encampment in the nearby grove and they really like my cinnamon buns and sweet rolls. This wouldn't be an issue if they paid for it, but it's the third time this week they just raided my stall and made a run for it. Please get them to stop!
>Reward: 40 xp, 50 coins
>You'd be attempting this quest along 2 other adventurers: Golden Fields the Farmhoof and Skewpin the Ranger
>Expected challenge: easy

Suspicious witch
>Client: Brighthoof, village priestess
>A strange mare has taken residence in an abandoned shack further down the road. Since then, rats have been teeming in the area. I suspect this mare is a practitioner of the dark arts, and she must be driven away before any real harm is done by her or the rodents she seems to control.
>Reward: 80 xp, 30 coins
>You'd be attempting this quest along 2 other adventurers: Brighthoof the Village Priestess and Summer Nap the Village Watch
>Expected challenge: medium

>Blueberry and Brass Compass are still around. They appreciate you enough you may ask her to go on a quest with you.

I vote we still accompany Brass Compass Suspicious witch job request please I wanna see us either fighting to capture or kill the strange mare or we use our powerful luth guitar to seduce her to calm her down so she leaves volunteerly. As for the other adventurers interesting our client Brighthoof Meadowburg village priestess wants to tag along with us to confront this pony she probably wants to resolve the issue peacefully and Summer Nap the village watch I say we take her with us sounds like she's Meadowburg village guard and can handle herself well in a fight if it comes down to violence. Wonder how all three of those mares will look like and curious if we can be able to somehow flirt with all three of them on this quest if not then getting one or two of them putty in our hooves is good enough and who knows maybe one of those three mares would want to get pounded by whispering heart the music bard during this mission depending on how the situation goes, but that would definitely be an added lucky bonus for the young stallion for partaking this dangerous life gambling assignment gotta play your cards right if you want to win big.

That quest about the suspicious witch had you curious since you first saw it. You accept it and find the two other ponies that signed up for it.

"Thank you for coming." The mare in robes shows you a calm smile as you approach. "I'm Brighthoof, Meadowburg's priestess. I'm glad somepony accepted to help us keep this community safe."
"Yeah, this witch lass is mightily dodgy." The pegasus adds. "'Will sleep better knowing that she's gone! Oh, and, uh, Summer Nap here. At your service."

>You may discuss with your companions as you embark on this adventure to get to know them better.

Seems pretty clear what their specialties and skills are, but ask just in case and share what our magic can do. Ask more about this strange mare as well. Do the rats seem to be coordinating? Would also ask what she's a priestess of, but not sure how in character that is, unless we really are that unaware of what the local faith here is.

Hey this is a surprising twist the Brighthoof the village priestess is carrying a mace weapon and Summer Nap an archer pegasus. Bright is sexy beautiful and Nap she kinda reminds me of the tough archer pony Verdant from growing village. This is going to be so lewd exciting. Salute to the group with an formal introduction of our name and weapon of our choice. Ask the priestess why she our client is getting involved in this does she have a personal stake in this? Has Bright ever been in a fight before? Ask Summer is she the village guard who keeps a lookout for any danger coming to Meadowburg? How good of a archer shot are you Nap? Does anybody know what this strange mare wants? What's the plan on dealing with this possibly witch? How long they know each other? All three of you talk about each other cutie mark origin stories.

"Hello! My name is Whispering Heart." You introduce yourself with a slight bow. "As an adventuring bard I'll be sure to put my music at your service. It'll be an honor to accompany the mare that watches out for this village's safety."
"Heh." Summer Nap seems to appreciate the compliment. "Damn right! And today we're doing it all together. So let's get to it!"

As you walk along the road, you find yourself glancing at Brighthoof's mace. After a second, you notice she caught you looking.
"I must admit…" You speak up. "I didn't expect a priestess to carry such a weapon."
"Worry not. I will be able to heal your wounds if the need arises." The holy mare answers, keeping her smile. "But sometimes the Light's will needs us as its instrument, and I can't stand to remain idle in such cases."
"So you're a warrior priestess?" You ask.
"Let's say I can stand my ground, yes."

From your knowledge, they are several deities than can be referred as 'the Light'. With several cults indigenous to the lands, by royal decree places of worship must serve 'the Light' as a placeholder for different benevolent gods, so all may feel welcome in a public place of cult. Additionally, believers don't have to speak out the name they worship that way, and this compromise filters out the less peaceful cultists by design.

"Sounds like you two know each other already." You comment. "Have you ever fought together?"
"Yeah, we both grew up in Meadowburg." Summer Nap replies. "And we've faced a few threats together too. This town is a mostly a calm one, but there's still the occasional highwaymare that thinks she can mug travelers and shopkeepers unbothered."
"It's sad that some ponies take up such violent habits." Bright hoof shakes her head. "We have no choice be to defend ourselves in such cases."

"Alright, what do you know about this witch?" You then ask. "I'd like to know what we'll be up against."
"Not much unfortunately." Brighthoof says. "But that she indulges in dark arts is certain."
"Do you know of her plans?"
"We do not, but as far as I'm concerned, there can't be any good reason to do so." Brighthoof replies, unshaken.
"Do the rats seem to be coordinating?"
"Seems like it, yeah." Summer Nap nods. "I've seen some of them keeping watch around the road. The critters would just scurry away whenever I'd try to get close. They've yet to actually attack anypony, but that's why we must act before it happens. And speaking of which…"

The archer mare nods towards the path in front of you, and your turn your head just in time to see a small rodent scurry away into the tall grass.
A minute later, you see a couple who runs away at your approach.
And the one after, it's four at once that disappear in the prairie.
By the time you've left the road yourselves to go approach the witch's shack, there seems to be a dozen couple little eyes watching you at all times.

You quickly split the loaf in adequately small portions, and throw the bits behind you as you advance. The rats seem distracted by the free meal alright, quickly starting to nibble on whatever piece falls close enough of them. After a minute and with the bread completely spent, you've managed to shake off the rodents, and now trot toward your destination.

A dozen minutes later, you arrive in front of a shack in the middle of the tall grass, where you suppose your target resides.
"We know you're in here, rat witch!" Bright hoof immediately calls loudly toward the hut. "Come out and face us already!"
"Yeah!" Summer Nap adds. "No use hidding! We got you cornered!"

After a few seconds, the door of the wooden shack opens.
"What is the meaning of this!?" A mare in dark robes comes out, looking ostensibly pissed by the ruckus your teammates made. "Who are you to come to my house and threaten me without reason?"
"Don't try to fool us!" Summer Nap barks. "You're a rat witch! Your minions are gonna eat away the crops of Meadowburg and bring illness to its folks!"
"We demand that you leave this place at once." Brighthoof gets to the point
"But I settled far from the town precisely so I wouldn't bother you town ponies!" The witch angrily grits her teeth, her horn starting to glow purple. "But you don't care, you're just a bunch of dumb rat-cists, like all ponies!"

"You're right. I don't care. You don’t belong… Wait… what the...!" Summer Nap stops in her sentence as she seems to notice something on your side. "Watch out! Something's coming!"
Soon enough you notice it too. A couple dark forms darting in the tall grass, and coming right at you at fast speed. The sound of their steps and growls comes closer, and soon you identify a duo of wolves with an unnaturally dark fur, and whose fangs are bared at your group already. At the speed they're coming, you've got half a minute before they'll be at your throats.

"Incoming!" Summer Nap readies an arrow, while Brighthoof has her mace in mouth.
The witch seems even more surprised and confused than you are, looking unsure of which threat she should prioritize between you and the beasts.

"We can do this!" You encourage your friends, and in the case of the witch, she shoots up by half a foot as your magic empowers her directly. She was already lanky for a mare, and now she's almost a head taller than your companions.
The beasts are on you before you can discuss much more, and in this pinch, the witch chooses to fight on your side. While the wolves are adamant on targeting you and your two companions, the rat mare still fires a beam of purple energy that hits one of them on the side.
The other dodges an arrow from Summer Nap, but can't evade a strike from Brighthoof's mace that sends it rolling in the dirt. While the other recovers from the witch's spell, it's an arrow from summer nap that makes it yelp as it strikes its leg.

The beasts stand up for another assault that the combined effort of the four of you repels once more. At this point, the attackers seem to lose their will to fight, and you could swear their fur turn a little lighter. The two animals exchange a few whimpers, and then decide to flee from you. However, Summer Nap doesn't let that chance to the one whose leg she already pierced, and shoots it down with an arrow that hits its spine, killing it on the spot. The other disappears in the distance not long after.

Somewhat, you also feel like an invisible weight has been lifted from your shoulders, but right now you still have a bit of a situation to deal with.

"Well, well, well…" The witch smugly chimes. "So, am I still an evil, grain-rotting, illness bearing witch after I saved your butts from these wild beasts?"
"Hmm… Let's not get ahead of ourselves…" Summer Nap grumbles.
"Aw, come on!" You call the guard mare out. "We just fought together! Isn't it enough to prove that we can at least talk about this?"

"At this point it would be unwise to ignore what just happened." Brighthoof begrudgingly concedes, and then to the purple unicorn. "Witch, do you deny that you've come to spread famine and disease?"
"What the…!" The witch seems ready for another outburst, but your pleading smile gets her to try explaining herself instead.
"Of course that's all wrong!" She shakes her head. "You just made that all up in your own heads! My little friends and I come from Port Sunrise. They WERE full of disease and dirty, but that's because they lived in dirty pony sewers, eating dirty pony trash! I brought them in these plains so they could experience a new beginning, and they don't need ponies. Rats are the smartest and most adaptative creatures of this world, and not only do they thrive here without bothering anypony, but they're also cleaner than they've ever been. And in addition, they've told me they're making friends with the local shrews and field mice already. The hares are total nutjobs, though…"
"Well, there you have it!" You conclude. "There's no ill intend here. In fact, I believe you've more of a druid than a witch, miss…"

"Ratchel!" The purple mare announces. "Yes, I mean, I'm just an animal lover with some spells. That counts as a druid, right?"
"Then I see no reason to bother Ratchel any further." You plead. "Though, Ratchel, if after this encounter you'd rather travel around than stay here, I'd be honored to adventure the world side by side with you."

"What?" The witch blinks wildly a couple times, before bursting in laughter. "Ahahaha! That's a flattering offer, bard! But I settled here with my friends so they could have a better life. I'd rather stay with them for now, I mean…" She glances at the two other mares. "If the… local authorities don't plan on arresting me for the crime of keeping to myself and not bothering anybody."
"I know the difference between a druid and a witch, witch." Brighthoof sighs. "But after hearing you out, I am inclined to believe that you mean no harm."
"Then the situation is cleared, right?" You force a big smile on your face to show Summer Nap.
"Well, yeah, I believe we're all good for now." The guardsmare admits begrudgingly, as though this outcome somehow seemed to bother her.

So we don't level up immediately once the main protagonist reach it's exp requirements only when he goes to sleep and wakes up the next day odd way to increase his stats and skill abilities.

Dang it those wolves we fought were from the curse magic artifact we tried to dispell so the magic was redirected towards Whispering instead of the unicorn Brass but how did that happened when she was one doing the spell to get rid of the curse so shouldn't the wolf curse be on the unicorn caster who tried to disturb it?! Hmm better find Compass and tell her what transpired she might be able to shed some light about this. Include Ratchel and Board in this too the witch could help brass identify the cause as well considering she knows a thing or two about dark spells and curses since she study the dark arts, while board I doubt she would dare to cause a bar fight with the rat witch the lazy warrior is mostly chill and laid back anyways so she'll welcome the strange dark robe mare with open hooves with a nice friendly casual chat. Speaking of casual chat, inform Ratchel that before he met her he gave her rats some bread as a peace offering to go about his way without hurting them and that he's glad that he didn't had to fight her afterwards despite what everypony says about her he didn't believe it not without having witnessed the type of pony she is for himself firsthoof so he can know what the right call was to make which in the end allowed both of them to get the story straight due to him wanting to take a parlay chance sympathizing and understanding with her situation.
