Since Princess Celestia seems to be a living deity who directly rules ponies and since a clergyman appeared in an episode and concept like churches etc. exist in the series, do you think that Princess Celestia may act like the Tribunal from Morrowind by both ruling directly and both fulfilling ponies' spirituality or am I just overthinking?

>Tribunal
>Achieved their (false?) divine power via magical/divine artifact (Heart of a dead god)
>The sisters (presumably) achieved theirs via Elements of harmony
hmmmm....
Though they were already shown as alicorns in that flashback thing, so... Eh.
Tribunal lied about achieving their divinity via great deeds, this could be actually sort of true in Celestia's case... Almost. Truth would be that it is achievable by mortals - if you happen to have one of Starswirl's old journals lying around...

I don't think that she'd necessarily want to be worshipped on a personal basis. With her also being a ruler, it'd come across like a cult of personality, which she wouldn't want. It's more likely that ponies worship the general concept of Harmony, of which Celestia happens to be a leading example.

She wouldn't want to be worshipped, she would make a great effort to prevent any religion about her from occurring. However. She literally raises the sun. That ALONE will get her worshippers anyway.

If a motherfucking random koala had the power to RAISE THE SUN people would very shortly make a religion dedicated to the koala. Moving the sun is like the ONE fucking thing that will immediately make the whole planet say "holy shit, we need to deify that koala"

Princess Celestia bows her knees to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise be to him and his Glory. And may his Alicorn Mare apostle keep spreading the Good Word.

>the Tribunal from Morrowind
I don't know anything about that, but the way I think about it is that it's similar to monarchy in this world: Equestrians believe in Celestia's (and the other princesses') divine right to rule, which can only derive from belief in a higher power. So Celestia is part of it, but I don't think they worship her directly; as powerful as she is, she's a corporeal being like the rest of them.

By the way, I like threads like this. It's a shame religion is considered an embarrassing relic that's unsuitable for exploring in a children's show.

Was the equestrian Jesus a pony? Or was he another kind of creature?

Basically the tribunal is a group of elves that obtained divine powers after using the heart of a fallen god, after that they posed as deities and manipulated their nation into changing religion and into worshipping them.

Obviously Celestia isn't that malicious, but I wonder if she is acting as a living deity among ponies in the same fashion as the tribunal does (to be fair it would be like having both Zeus living in a city and giving orders and both having temples of Zeus with worship).

Jesus Christ the Son of God.
It would be in your best interest to know that.

Both Celestia and Luna would be worshipped but, out of the two, Celestia would actively hate being worshipped while Luna would eat that shit up.

Not because she wants to be worshipped or anything but because it reminds her of the more batshit things that'd happened in the pony medieval times.

How about Dark Souls logic?
>"Gods" are a species
>Normalfags do worship them
>Faith in gods is an entire school of magic
>reciting legends about Gods' adventures can produce various magical miracles

It’s somewhat unclear. There doesn’t appear to be any state-sanctioned worship of the two sisters, but they also have entire holidays dedicated to remembering their achievements, which, while not truly worship, is somewhat bordering on it. Celestia and Luna are benevolent despots and immortal demigods and are loved and revered by their citizenry, that much is certain. There may be small religious organizations dedicated to them, but nothing tied to the state I’d wager.

God created man with his own hands instead of speaking mankind in creation.
I answered your question, it is Jesus Christ the Son of God. All man and all God.

What complicates things is that in the world of MLP there are many creatures blessed with higher intelligence and thus many potential identities for the creator. Ponies do seem to be the most blessed of them all, though, so I’d wager the creator to be pony-aligned, at least. The boring answer is that God is omnipotent and thus can appear as any form befitting any situation and thus the conjecture is moot.

>conjecture is moot
We are made in God's image. Ponies are one of his many creatures. They follow the Good Shepherd who leads them to tasty grass, to cool springs, warm places for them to lay their heads, and protects them from predditors.

Thought it was like Germany in Second World War or medieval. They just worshipped themselves
