Wasn't good back then and isn't good now either. Could have been a good spin-off show and continuation of the show, but it never aimed for that cause Greg & Petirep do not have the talent for that.
A South Park esque show in terms of animation, but the comedy is nothing like South Park & Beavis and Butthead.
The comedy is nothing like DBZabridged and YuGiOh or Ghost Stories or Scary Movie. Wasn't good back then and isn't good now hence Tamers & Shawn Keller also not really "getting it"
So ironically they fail at both, including Tamers. They also similar to SP , Epithet Erased, etc. popularized motion comic stuff or colored animatic. So ironically stuff like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLGlrY7cooY&ab_channel=Clipper could potentially help people who can storytell and voice act but have no animation skills ... problem is ... people in this fandom can't storytell and be funny worth damn cause feminine people aren't funny cause autistic feminine people are very self-absorbed and egocentric and humour requires honesty and individuality. Autistic people also can't socialize to know how non autists respond.
Ghost Stories, DBZ, YuGiOh are a million times funnier and more creative while also working within constraints but their voices are also much manlier and their writers know how to tell a joke and know what comedic timing is.
When I originally watched South Park & Beavis and Butthead Tamers/Ren&Stimpy and Mentally Advanced is what I expected; a bunch of unfunny gross people jerking off and pretending to be funny. It wasn't until later I noticed that South Park and the like actually have Simpsons charm to them just like Futurama and there actually is substance to be had there. I thought was going to watch Angela Anaconda and I said fuck that, I'm not watching that. That's what Rainbow Dash Present and Tamers feels like I'm watching, Angela Anaconda levels of bad & autism.
Epithet Erased instead was also much more different and actually felt like watching a puppet show of a real show that attempted quality. Unlike Sesame Street stuff that aims for the lowest common denominator; kids and manchildren.
I watched Greg's other works like Stebe Hotdog Man and honestly ... it can't hold a candle to Xavier Renegade & The Tick, not the tiniest candle. Gay/Feminine autistic people just don't know how to be funny, Tamers especially.
Now to summarize and extract a conclusion from this .. I think MLP FIM is just as enjoyable as a colored animatic as if it was animated. Seriously give it a chance. De-animate the show and watch if the lack of fluid motion impacts the voice acting and storytelling and audio too much, I personally don't think it does.
