Wasn't good back then and isn't good now either. Could have been a good spin-off show and continuation of the show, but it never aimed for that cause Greg & Petirep do not have the talent for that.
A South Park esque show in terms of animation, but the comedy is nothing like South Park & Beavis and Butthead.
The comedy is nothing like DBZabridged and YuGiOh or Ghost Stories or Scary Movie. Wasn't good back then and isn't good now hence Tamers & Shawn Keller also not really "getting it"

So ironically they fail at both, including Tamers. They also similar to SP , Epithet Erased, etc. popularized motion comic stuff or colored animatic. So ironically stuff like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLGlrY7cooY&ab_channel=Clipper could potentially help people who can storytell and voice act but have no animation skills ... problem is ... people in this fandom can't storytell and be funny worth damn cause feminine people aren't funny cause autistic feminine people are very self-absorbed and egocentric and humour requires honesty and individuality. Autistic people also can't socialize to know how non autists respond.

Ghost Stories, DBZ, YuGiOh are a million times funnier and more creative while also working within constraints but their voices are also much manlier and their writers know how to tell a joke and know what comedic timing is.

When I originally watched South Park & Beavis and Butthead Tamers/Ren&Stimpy and Mentally Advanced is what I expected; a bunch of unfunny gross people jerking off and pretending to be funny. It wasn't until later I noticed that South Park and the like actually have Simpsons charm to them just like Futurama and there actually is substance to be had there. I thought was going to watch Angela Anaconda and I said fuck that, I'm not watching that. That's what Rainbow Dash Present and Tamers feels like I'm watching, Angela Anaconda levels of bad & autism.

Epithet Erased instead was also much more different and actually felt like watching a puppet show of a real show that attempted quality. Unlike Sesame Street stuff that aims for the lowest common denominator; kids and manchildren.

I watched Greg's other works like Stebe Hotdog Man and honestly ... it can't hold a candle to Xavier Renegade & The Tick, not the tiniest candle. Gay/Feminine autistic people just don't know how to be funny, Tamers especially.

Now to summarize and extract a conclusion from this .. I think MLP FIM is just as enjoyable as a colored animatic as if it was animated. Seriously give it a chance. De-animate the show and watch if the lack of fluid motion impacts the voice acting and storytelling and audio too much, I personally don't think it does.

I think you could give Tamers & Rainbow Dash Presents actual animation maybe even fix the art style and they'd both still have the same problem G5 had... the storytelling isn't good.

You could throw a whole budget at it, could give Shawn, Greg, Tamers professional voice actors and it still wouldn't make a difference cause the storytelling & dialogue is boring as shit, on the level of an amateur foreign filmmaker.

Tamers, Greg, Shawn Keller do not have the Simpsons charm.

Shawn Keller has an amateur's attempt at Hannah Barbera but not Scooby Doo, instead the crappiest IP froms Hannah & Barbera; The Huckleberry Hound Show, that's what watching Shawn Keller's "original" animations feels like.

They do not know how to immerse, engage and put butts in the seats. Your whole line of thinking is "Is it over yet?" as you can't wait to stop watching it. It's a drooling mess that goes on and on and repeats itself in a very unentertaining and uninteresting way just like most of Hannah Barbera's filler shows. Just like Tamers & Greg.

You could give them a high budget and it would still feel boring as hell because they cannot write and engage with the audience worth a shit. Hollywood vs Bollywood vs European filmmakers. For all of Hollywood's cons, during 70s till 2008 they could put your butt in a seat without feeling like leaving the theater mid way through or falling asleep midway into the movie.

Tamers has something like a Ren & Stimpy meets anime allure to it, it explains his fanbse and it also explains why anyone who doesn't like those 2 shows cannot stand watching it for more than 2 minutes or gets interested for 2 episodes and then moves on cause pure fluff special effects action, toilet humour & crappy unfinished anime VFX isn't very substanceful and long lasting hence why he has to constantly make episodes just like a real anime nigger in order to keep the children's attention by dangling a chain of keys above them and making noises and neon lights. If Ren & Stimpy and anime were actually worth watching then they wouldn't need so many episodes of it like it was popcorn for the children to eat. A real man wants a steak , not popcorn. Good stuff doesn't rely on "it feels foreign" and shock and word of mouth popularity.

Yes. Yes, I am.

But Huckleberry Hound’s not based much on Huck Finn outside of the name. He’s a funny character, but he’s not my favorite in his show. Yogi Bear got his start on “The Huckleberry Hound Show.” Those early cartoons were funny as hell! Before it got overly formulaic, it was a really creative and funny cartoon.

I don't think this thread is really worth the reply, but I see most fanworks as part of the time. It's harder to judge any of those things now after the cultural zeitgeist has faded. Additionally it doesn't take a genius to realise that comparing a little series done by some schmuck online isn't comparable to YuGiOh or Scary Movie. It isn't even fair to compare to the Ghost Stories dub. I'll say it is fair to compare it to DBZ Abridged though.

As for people here being unable to tell stories, that just depends on the person, & most are retards, some here, coomer or not, can write. Also I don't know what your retardation is about "manly voices" but I really don't get it.

While it's all a product of the era, Rainbow Dash presents & the Mentally Advanced did two things, it treated silly dumb kids stuff with the "what if these kids show characters talked like actual adults about things" idea. It was probably novel at the time, I forget. I know we live in a debased, irony laden society now, but this was before that. But Rainbow Dash presents did it the other way, where it took some of the edgy, violence obsessed parts of the community & parodied it. Or did so with other standard tropes of fanfiction. Treating Rainbow Factory as a retarded story, it's parodied by the series.

I quite like FiW, though I will admit the episodes vary a lot in quality. In terms of humour, I'd say The Perfect Swarm, Cute from the Hip and Foaly Matripony are best. The only one I don't like is Lunar Slander, which for me at least completely fails to land. I think the appeal of some of those lower quality fan projects is that it feels very much like something you could make with your friends, which I guess was more generally the charm of early YouTube

Honestly, I think this fandom is far better at short comedic animations, than episode length projects. Also, I swear nobody on this board ever mentions Audiodramas in these discussions

I remember enjoying FiW back in the day. A couple years ago I gave some episodes a shot again but I found myself utterly unamused. Somehow I felt that it was actively unfunny 70% of the time. I still appreciate it tho for what it meant to both me and the community, still a great little spoof series that pioneered early internet creativity. I only got into MAS when Greg starting draw it himself and by that time I wasn't mentally advanced enough to understand it despite enjoying it. Nowadays I appreciate it even more than then. Tamers12345 was fantastic up until the episode that introduced Flawless, after that it got too much melodrama, anime fighting and shipping. I was honestly really excited each time he uploaded up until after the Flawless reveal, now he still does some humor now and then but overall it is just actually cringe shipping and anime derived cliches, which even if made tounge-in-cheek ironically, is still cliches.
