People act like the fight scene is the greatest moment in MLP:FiM and constantly recommend that episode to new viewers just getting into the show, but they are doing a disservice to the new potential fans that way. The appeal of the show doesn't lay in "le epic DBZ fights." It is found in the slice of life episodes, which make up 90% of the show. If you want DBZ fights then watch DBZ. If you want cute ponies doing cute things then this is the show for you.

That wasn't really a character trait for Twilight in S4, she was pretty well-adjusted for the most part. Regressing her to Lesson Zero was the bullshit Haber and co. came up with in late seasons. That's really not one of the episode's many issues.

I don't care for criticisms that a character gets forgiven too easily, they're usually petty and emotional rather than trying to analyze the presented narrative. The real problem is that the presented narrative is really dumb. Discord is forced to play the idiot for no good reason. His motivation to side with Tirek is a plot excuse at best because at no point he actually practices that "freedom" he supposedly wanted so much. It's also a really, really terrible idea to have a trickster character like Discord get outsmarted by a thug like Tirek.

This one doesn't really matter, the keys' previous history is irrelevant. It could theoretically be a piece of toiler paper used to wipe someone's ass, what matters is that it was involved in someone having a revelation about friendship. Also betraying Tirek is a morally good thing in-universe.

Crystal empire had a McGuffin which had an established spell to get rid of sombra.
That whole castle of friendship had never been established as something that could have defeated tirek.
