Zoomer here, I was never disgusted by cupcakes or smile, I did find Sweet Apple Music to be a bit disturbing but that was obviously written to be goreporn. Cupcakes was also an intentional shockfic but I feel like it came from a place of genuine writing rather than intentionally trying to make something disgusting on purpose. I haven't read Cupcakes in a while so I'm not sure how the writing holds up.

I re-read cupcakes a while ago and I thought the characters were written well, but the overall quality of the writing wasn't very good. I also read Rainbow Factory for the first time and it had the opposite problem where the writing quality was decent but everyone was completely out-of-character.

I actually hadn't heard of Rocket to Insanity before. I just read it and it's a nice compliment to the original story. The writing is okay aside from some Lavender Unicorn Syndrome, but I wish the ending was less abrupt.
