I'm just sorta curious what pony enjoyers think of ai artwork here? I have mixed feelings about it. It can make really neat looking images but I love drawing and feel like learning how to draw feels cheapened by it.
do mlp fans still enjoy handcrafted artwork made by people or just prefer ai, or both? Specifically for MLP fanart and such

yeah, it should never be called art but the image generated is interesting. some artists feed their own art into local models to get concepts out faster and draw along side them. I still hate ai that's trained unethically and stole from many artists and I don't want to live in a world where most shows just show slop as a final product but it has it's use cases

only AI pictures I tolerate are those fluffy ponies that almost look like 3d renders, I imagine it would be really hard to make them otherwise

This, I get using it for extra realistic pics. Though good ones are super rare, most of the time they look like uncanny CGI or plushies. The tech isn't there yet.

Something AI generated has as much soul as those pics drawn by lewd artists who simply copypaste different heads into the same bodies. Sure, you can fap to it if you want, after all they do look pretty. But it does nothing for me.

There's a difference between using automation to make a bunch of identical copies of something (printing, mass-produced goods, etc.) and using automation to replace the creative work of actually designing and inventing new things in the first place. Clothes are mass-produced, but someone still had to design them in the first place. Appliances are mass-produced, but they still had to be invented and developed by actual people first. Printing doesn't mean that books no longer have to be written by people. I'm tired of hearing this same retarded argument that generative AI is no different from any previous technological disruption.

Plus, the death of manual labor skills in the general population is, in fact, a bad thing and is going to seriously bite us in the ass some day. There is a greater conversation that needs to be had about which skills should be still be learned by most people even if technology can do if for us, at least for the purposes of safety and being prepared for disasters or other situations where technology is unavailable.

Sometimes it's good, but really IMO AI generation is only good for spamming some moderately decent porn at a decent rate. When it comes to SFW art I'll still usually prefer human artists. AI is gonna end up for porn artists what Photography was for landscape paintings, but art beyond that point will probably keep trucking.
