post recs, favorite albums, favorite bands.
pimp by clown is my rec
they're like a mix of korn with deftones
>>126563372 (OP)Never heard this but I liked the album art. Gotta let it sink in a bit more but it's cool. Cold's 13 Ways to Bleed album is one of my favorites
my second rec is acid blitz, they only have around 4 or 5 songs in total but, they're good trust me.
>>126563372 (OP)is numetal dead now?
Does this need a separate from the /metal/ general?
>>126563372 (OP)Listen to Celtic Frost instead.
>>126563372 (OP)it is weird to hear this band that sounds like the bands you listed but something about it sounds kinda tryhard, like they don't really believe it themselves.
>>126563591I'm not gay so no thanks.
>>126563610Try hard in what way? I thought they sounded pretty good.
>>126563679I listened to like 80% of the record and I think it is in the vocal delivery. The dude sounds like he is trying very hard to sound like other popular vocalists. A little bit of Fred here, some Jonathan there, don't forget Corey, Chino, maybe even that POD dude. Also did I just hear him say the niggerword? Kek.
third rec is "Flipzyde"
honestly, they kinda suck, but, and this is a big but, their vocalist is really good shouting/screaming so it more then makes up for it. If I were to recommend any album from them, I'd have to choose "Electro.Pop.Metal", as it's the only one where it seemed like they actually put on their serious hat and tried.
https://youtu.be/QTEQEXxuboM
>>126563674Yet nu-metal is the gayest genre there is... curious...
>>126563698>A little bit of Fred here, some Jonathan there, don't forget Corey, Chino, maybe even that POD dudeFair enough that's why I said they were pretty much a korn/deftones lite, regardless I thought it wasn't bad.
> Also did I just hear him say the niggerword?it was a different time
fourth rec
The Mad Capsule Markets (Japanese band)
A little bit of skater punk, a little bit of digital hardcore, and of course nu-metal, the vocals can be a bit weak at times but all in all, they're a pretty solid band, my personal favorite album is "010" released in 2001, they're most popular album by far though is "OSC-DIS" released in 1999.

>>126563372 (OP)Is New found power a numetal band:

anyways, is it a nu metal album?
>>126563870I listened to the s/t the other day the whole way through after some years. While obviously very front-loaded, the B-sides are still very enjoyable. Scissors especially was a great closer.
>>126563846Only the 3rd one you quoted is questionable, the other 3/4 are fine

I only found a few of their stuff memorable, this one is my favorite. its pretty good. When I heard it I expected the rest of their stuff to be more agressive.
>>126563956>i like the fourth one, it reminds me of invader zim.I never watched the show, but this is why I think the covers are fine. They are clearly going for a specific visual aesthetic.
>>126563961a mix of both alt-metal and nu-metal.

Probably the best of underground nu metal, kinda reminds a bit of Korn and slowed-down Static-X, but these guys have a sound of their own.

Nu with some funk metal influence, they start leaning into prog later on as well, kind of a cross between Incubus and SikTh.

Occasionally melodic band with a great singer, a lot of influence from Alice In Chains, heavier tracks sound like Korn

Another modern band, rap metal with hardcore elements, very catchy stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6jzuTTwJFI&list=PLMSJx4IgE-WJ48YTKViLnbq-DQqSJRxSV
This one became metalcore later on, but the first two albums are nu metal, reminds me of early Deftones.
>>126563372 (OP)>>126563584>>126564034I think papa roach is a good example of how the boundary between numetal and โtrve metalโ isnโt always clear.
Like with their most famous song, last resort:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=j2R6uT7uLFg
I like the song, and Iโve thought to myself the main riff of the song has a very power metal vibe. I can think of a couple power metal songs that use similar styles of riffs.
Itโs also almost identical to one of the riffs used in an Iron Maiden instrumental called genghis khan. (The tempo and the way the riff changes is different).
Thereโs other songs on the infest album like that as well.

>>126563372 (OP) Friendly reminder that nu-metal was never a real genre but a marketing tool for record labels to slot in various rock and metal adjacent bands of the 90s and early 2000s that didn't fit in the mold of established rock and metal genres. This is why such radically different bands like Deftones, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit all got lumped into the same category despite sounding vastly different from each other and drawing from distinctly different influences.

>>126598725Good chart, especially because it is not made by a retard who said Evanescence are nu, just because they played Bring Me to Life. I get some nu bands are not very hip hop, very funky, or very groovy, at all, but I will never get Evanescence being categorised as nu. They have got more in common with corny and cheesy female fronted gothic metal bands than (early) Deftones, (early) Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Coal Chamber, Linkin Park, etc. They are as nu metal as Lacuna Coil. Weird that you included Fear Factory as nu metal, they are more industrial metal, but not Orgy, which played industrial and nu. The chart could use more foreign shit like Ikd-sj, (early) Molotov, Bloodywood, Clawfinger, Kazik na Zywo, Bassagong, Seo Taiji, Stupeflip, Psychea, Noize MC, Planet Hemp, WOS, Th1rt3en, Flapjack, Pleymo, Urban Dance Squad, Quarashi, Puya, etc. But if you like to keep it to just 42, I guess you could do a lot worse with what you have.
>>126598725Does vein count as nu-metal? Is it a case of mixed genre? someone showed me one of their songs and it was more aggresive than other stuff ive seen in the genre.
>>126599575This particular album definitely has more nu metal influence than your typical nu metalcore album, so I put it in just in case.
>>126599575There is a strand of nu metal that leans more toward metalcore and mathcore, nu metalcore, if you will. I am not a fan of it, but the chart should cover all kinds of nu metal even the metalcore and mathcore shit.

does anyone know the translation for the russian bits at the end of this song. Its 'get a life' by limp bizkit on the gold cobra album.

>>126640867Walking away is one of the best songs on that album:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=WjNb0j7dJws
It's a bit unusual for them, since it's a power ballad and has a guitar solo. It starts as off with clean guitars and a calm atmosphere but ends with Some of Fred's harshest screams.
It feels a lot more sincere but also much angrier than a lot of other limp bizkit songs.
>>126640828One of about 4 similar scales that has an Arabic/Gypsy sound to it. Like the kind of music that plays in every movie scene that takes place in a bazaar.

Anyone listen to the first album of Staind?
It's not on streaming like youtube, but its on their bandcamp:

It's pretty raw and aggressive. Apparently its quite different from their later stuff.

>>126643225What's the best way to compile all songs by an artist into a playlist so I can listen and see which of their songs I like?
Currently I use something which puts all their Spotify songs into a playlist but normify doesn't have every single song in the world obviously and I'm too lazy to scroll through deezer and YouTube to compare 200 songs with each other to see what's missing

Is this a nu metal song? Or does it fit more in another alt metal genre?
I'm trying to see if there are others like it. Maybe something from Sepultura during or after Roots Bloody Roots?
This song is quite different from the usual style for Manowar, who are definitely not an alt metal or numetal band (they are power metal).
The album was released in 1992, but i dont know when the song was written. It might have been intended as something experimental for them.
>>126649381not sure what you're hearing in this that is experimental. i guess the spoken words part is new for them but this sounds nothing like nu-metal
>>126649752yeah it's not super avant garde, but it's relatively experimental for them (given what they usually sound like).
There's no Chorus and only 3 verses. The bass and guitar are playing slightly different things, but there's only a single riff in the whole song,
I wonder if this is something they came up with themselves or if they were inspired by some other song.
>>126647940>>126647984Some of the popular stuff is pretty good
>>126579390>This is why such radically different bands like Deftones, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit all got lumped into the same category despite sounding vastly different from each other and drawing from distinctly different influences. This happens with other metal subgenres as well.
