Is YouTube Music good as your primary music streaming service? I know that the sound quality isn't as good as the others, but I don't listen using expensive headphones anyway so I don't think I'd notice a difference. Just nice to bundle it with an ad-free YouTube experience.

Its pretty decent. But I don't know how it compares to Spotify because I never used Spotify, so... Might be a little biased

It's literally on-par with just about every other streaming service

Good enough for a quick listen quality like FM stereo. If I really like something I'll buy vinyl or reel-to-reel.

Dubs denied there... That is really not true
YT/Spotify does not have the "oomph" of lossless streaming, but if your gear is not meant for audio transportation in lossless, it make no sense to go for lossless anyway.
YT-music is a good streaming service for that "special remix" or extended cut or allround exploring of music to either buy the material after listening for SSD/HDD/Server whatever storage, and if you have the gear like an okay DAC or just a computer with an onboard soundcard and good headphones where you use maybe FOOBAR, or if you are a REAL slutty ho-ho (Like I am) use audirvana or ROON, then you will get the most out of your music. But "Getting the most out of your music" is really the most subjective thing on earth, so it make no sense to buy into the snake oil I just mentioned. Don't set yourself up for Tidal/Qobuz/Audirvana/ROON unless you possess superior sensibility to sound. But I buy into the snake oil no questions asked, things just do sound different. That is my hat tipped into the discussion with an answer that make no sense, here is a short-list
>Qobuz
Best "HiRes" library
>Tidal
Best deal with a larger catalogue of "HiRes" but not as available anymore since MQA went defunct
>YT
Best library all together no bars held ANYWHERE. If you can't find it, you can find it on youtube
>Spotify
Just don't
>Deezer
Better alternative to spotify in CD-quality lossless. Will work with nearly all onboard soundcards in CD-quality

Wow holy shit is that a lot of autism that I'm not going to read
Nobody uses streaming services for the highest quality and no streaming service offers the best quality because it's a fucking streaming service, if you want to go full audiophile you don't stream, you actually get the raw files or original formats. Have sex dude

It has the biggest catalog, but it would be better if YT could find a solution to my fucking picrel problem. Every time an artist edits one of their albums, or reupload an album (desu idk what they do), the likes you gave to one of their songs dissappear. Just look at the image, almost all of my hundreds likes gone, it seems they are still in their system or something, but there's nothing you can do but to waste time re-liking those songs

I've found some weird omissions on YouTube Music. The first two Jesus and Mary Chain albums aren't on there. The first Anything Box album isn't on there.

It's probably blocked in your country, it appears perfectly fine for me.
Another problem with youtube is that some artists with different pseudonyms get their albums separated on different channels. Just check how sparse Foetus discog is in there

Since people say I spergh out whenever I type, here is a link to understand the quality of youtube ;
https://www.soundguys.com/youtube-music-premium-review-25622/
Read it or don't I don't give a shit.
Short answer ;
They cut
So does spotify
Does it matter in the end?
To some
yes
To others
no
Can people overall hear a "difference" inbetween 256Kbps vs 320?
No, for there is next to none.
It's like "those people" that think they can define the difference between 44100Hz and 88200Hz, snake oil.
Speaking on the other note regarding libraries, I still say no to spotify, because youtube has all that "extra sweetness" due to all the mystery mixes people make themselves and such. There are some real rabbit holes there to dive into. As an ex. you will not find this mix on spotify (It is not a thing with cats meowing, it is an actual remix that is fucking great);

You can do virtually everything you can do with the YT Music app on the main YT app. It's totally superfluous.

I only it use as a back up since you can upload 100000 songs to it
