if Brian Wilson died 10 years ago, this board would he flooded with his death

/mu/ is now for K-pop threads and gay spamming. Music as a genre is at a all time low in the public eye. No one wants to be seen a psued. K-slop and nigger rap makes up most people's music taste online now sadly.

This is the first time I've been on this board in years, I just came back because of Brian's death

The board is much better today than it was during the Fantano years, when it was unusable

kpop faggots ruined it. They're trying to do it to /tv/ but thankfully the Jews keep putting black people and gays in kino so there's enough to complain about to keep the board alive

This + with AI becoming more and more common music as we know it is gonna be very different than it was the last couple decades. /mu/ as a concept is outdated

I didn't feel much from David Lynch's death either. I thought I would have even a year ago, but I felt strangely apathetic. There's no place for such authentic, human, and artistic souls in the 2020s. I realise that they've been long dead, even if we hadn't have known it.

They will, in the future, AI will get so advanced, it will write songs as prolifically as any human possibly could, even to the smallest details, adding any timbre/imperfections you want. ○ >>126686989
Yes... everyone will be their own favorite band, a board like /mu/ will be irrelevant/dead, once you feed your favorite songs into AI, not only you will discuss your favorite music with someone who replies instantly, but that knows you better than yourself. The 2030s will be the last decade of music as we know it, all genres will be dead ; metal dead, Alt dead, rock dead, pop dead, indie/folk dead, soul/blues dead...

AI can't even solve basic bitch IQ questions (https://arcprize.org/play). It's not going to replace musicians. Closest AI got to creating art is writing smut stories, but even those are unoriginal and boring, unless you constantly tweak the generator.

They will, the same thing was said about translators, and programmers, how it was impossible for ai to do it, now, both are being replaced, only the most talented will be needed, just as only a small amount of musicians will be kept : to continuously feed the ai. 9/10 ,of musicians are replaceable, and will be, as AI advances you won't even be able to tell what's real or fake, nor survive out of music.

Modern day AI just regurgitates existing patterns, it cannot create anything new. Musicians are in particular hard to replace since the whole point is to create original and personally relatable art.Two things that AI is really bad at.

It isn't bad at it, once you've fed enough of your likes and dislikes, a can tell you what you want, as it advances it will get uncannily good at it. AI is able to innovate, by mixing whatever it is that you like, recognizing patterns, and abstracting from them. Denying this reality won't save you.

As I said, the most powerful AI in 2025 cannot solve a simple puzzle that a teenager would solve. Yes, it has memorized a lot of things, but it's also really stupid.

a song is just a series of pattern
you can generate songs with extremely primitive machines, doesnt even have to be AI
>generating song form: AABAC
>generating rhythm: 6/8
>generating chords: I V IV I ii iv I
>generating melody: ride the thirds

yeah man that will be so hard for AI to do

Most people don't get exposed to good music because they're not that interested in it. But when they do listen to something good, they can feel it.

I agree. I left because the board was obsessed with Pitchfork and half the discussion was about Pitchfork reviews whoever was the Pitchfork flavor of the month. I couldn't take it anymore. Now it's just a /r/music clone full of dadrock boomers, though.
