I can give them the benefit of the doubt for stealing those classic blues song. Most of them are passed down through cover performances and it's conceivable that Page & Plant didn't know which dustbowl-era hobo they were plagiarizing. But not crediting Dazed and Confused by Jake Holmes, which had been released on an album just 2 years before the Led Zep cover? To make matters worse, they later settled out of court for an undisclosed amount to give the credit as "inspired by Jake Holmes," instead of "written by."

When I was a kid I didn't know this was just P Diddler rapping over a Led Zeppelin song. I thought he wrote the song himself. Just like I thought Coolio wrote Gangsta's Paradise and Vanilla Ice wrote the bassline to Ice Ice Baby.

How old were you when you learned that every symbolic rap song of the 90s was just some talentless hoodrat rapping over a song written by someone infinitely more talented?

>stealing those classic blues song
>Muddy Waters came up with the riff to Whole Lotta Love
they only stole the lyrics. The music was entirely theirs.

He stole from le hecking white musicians too. He was just a hack like that. The court case he's in right now is about stealing Dazed and Confused from a white man

Probably when I first saw a video compilation showing popular rap songs and their sample sources. I realized the best part of all of those songs was the original track, for instance the Isley Bros originals completely mog the inferior loop-based tracks by Biggie, Ice Cube, K*ndrick etc. There's a huge difference between building a completely new track from various samples and just taking an old song wholesale (as P Diddler was known to do).

One exception is "Mind Playing Tricks On Me", which is just as cool as the Isaac Hayes song imo.

hard rock aesthetic and vibes are macho-manly and sexist, of course most trannies are not gonna like it
