Love isn’t enough. You have to have the shit beaten out of you by your girlfriend.

I always wished this album was more literal and actually *was* about a hospice worker falling in love with a cancer patient. The movie adaptation would be kino.

That one part in Wake just before he sings “Don’t be scared to speak, don’t speak with someone’s tooth…” always brings me near tears. Masterfully made album.

For me it is everytime he pronounces the word "terrified" througout the album.

You know what, this thread just got me to listen to this album again. See you all in an hour or so.

I miss this era of /mu/, I still consistently come across old albums that take me back to the glory days of this board, what an era, forever grateful for all of those recommendations

I like it because it's the most accurate depiction in popular music of what it's like to have a BPD loved one. I remember people getting mad when they learnt that the concept album gimmick was an extended metaphor but it's extremely obvious if you know the signs. The song Two in particular is almost too real.

My dad is a baby boomer born in the mid 50s, and literally all he listens to is buttrock and yuppie shit.
