Roger honestly. AMLOR and The Division Bell are both fucking mediocre, so is David's solo career. On an Island is the best album he has, but it honestly kind of an snoozer in places.

Roger solo career I feel is more solid, though his first two albums suffer from terrible narratives, and his are okay. I think Amused to Death is the best solo album.

Truth is, I think Nick Mason is the only one from the group to truly win. He looks like he has fun with his band playing old tunes

It was 50/50 as corny as that is to say, when Rog took control it was all soapy failed pop songs and when David took control it was all mushy elevator music with no hooks.

Gilmour only played bass for Animals and the Wall which are 90% Roger's compositions anyway, plus he played rhythm guitar on Animals to make up for it

Rog could be up there singing lyrics about angel food cake recipes or some shit and as long as you have Rick, Nick and the essential Gilmourgasm nothing else matters.

Syd. Maybe I’m a hipster but Piper and his two solo records are better than any later Floyd. All the stuff after Waters left is horrible but so are Waters’ solo records. Atom Heart Mother is my favorite post-Syd Pink Floyd album.

Bullshit. Roger’s entire lyrical output amounts to Reads George Orwell Once and muh dad died in the war.
>but aren’t riffs more important?
Possibly, but in this case it doesn’t matter cause Gilmour had shit for riffs. Another Brick in the Wall has the most boring riff imaginable. All Gilmour had was soloing pentatonic minor with a clean tone and some expensive effects and amps.

They were both massively overrated. And Nick Mason was a non playing shitkicker who was just along for the ride. Syd and Rick Wright were the only two members of Floyd capable of coming up with anything interesting.

David, and only because the band would not have had a replacement for Syd after he left.

> Atom Heart Mother
> favorite
Aside from If and Summer '68, I don't understand the appeal to the album. The album just feels overrun by orchestral instruments, and there isn't enough of their sound to make it worth listening to over their other works. Obscured by Clouds and select tracks from More are arguably better than what Atom Heart Mother has to offer.

> Roger’s entire lyrical output amounts to Reads George Orwell Once and muh dad died in the war.
I'll give you that: Roger is especially guilty of this in The Final Cut, but you understand that Animals, The Wall, and The Final Cut are not the only albums Roger Waters wrote lyrics for, right? Of course the lyrics amount to his own experiences, he collaborated with the band less and less through those albums. His lyricism before Animals was more grounded and more relatable.
> Another Brick in the Wall has the most boring riff imaginable
> soloing pentatonic minor
That track was just as memorable as any other disco track. Of course David, a blues guitarist, didn't make a good disco solo. He's out of his elements, and you can blame that all on Roger.

I love how you blissfully ignore every album before Animals.

Roger, hands down.
If it weren't for him Gilmour would be in a blues bar cover band and probably a tiler/plasterer.
But the real credit goes to Syd. The Floyd would be architects today if it wasn't for Barrett.

I think I would have to go with Rogers. I forget where I saw the interview but Gilmour was talking about how he and Waters would fight over the smallest shit about a song but Gilmour said Waters was often right. on a side note, I actually really like The Division Bell.
