How the fuck is this metal? This is just a goth album, albeit a heavy/noisy one.

Can you rec more like this? Filosofem is the only black metal album I've heard so far that I especially like.
I only like music that has a strong sense of melody. Most metal in general doesn't connect with me for this reason desu. Like for example, the only sludge-metal(-adjacent) album that I like is literally Bleach kek.

filosofem is peak bell curve meme, midwit retards bleet poser album and dunk on it whilst low iq retards like it for what it is and high iq'ers see that its a genuinely good album. Joking aside I genuinely like this album, its very hypnotic and my favorite track has to be beholding the daughters of the firmament. Tired of people pretending it sucks, is it the best album ever? no, but is it a very solid album, yes.

I thought this would be clear from what I was saying before, but I don't like metal in 99% of cases. I am not a metalhead and I never tried to imply that I was one. I am into punk, not metal.
>husker did din't creat shit
Obviously Husker Du didn't influence Burzum. That doesn't seem like the sort of thing Varg would listen to at all. I was just placing the music within the context of other things I like.

>I only like music that has a strong sense of melody
In case you don't like the other atmoblack stuff, try some melodic black metal, and metal that is not very BM but still quite melodic.

>Gorgoroth - Under the Sign of Hell (previous two albums too, but less so)
Very similar to the rest of the early Norwegian scene, so you may not like them right away. They have a notable heavy metal influence that they integrate into black metal very smoothly.
>Spite Extreme Wing
Cannot recommend enough. "Triumphant black metal" gets overused to describe a brighter or more solar style of melodic black metal, but SEW earn every word in the description. Fast, tense, precise, dynamic, and absolutely grand. Non dvcor, dvco is their darkest album, Vltra is mellower and heavily rock-influenced, but Magnificat and Kosmokrator are both bright yet powerful. Listen to the first four tracks of Magnificat, if nothing else.
>Sargeist - Let the Devil In
A benchmark of French/Finnish-style melodic BM which has since been imitated to death. It's a little middle of the road for me, but I totally get why people love it.
>Passéisme
Maximalist version of French meloblack like Véhémence. Constant melodies, technical playing, tough shouted vocals that are more hardcore than metal. Sounds like charging into a medieval battle for thirty minutes straight.
>Rostorchester
Bright, major-key, and with riffs bordering on emotional/melodic hardcore. Too bright and kitschy for some black metallers, but the band carves a good niche for themselves.
>Grave Pilgrim
Highly influenced by Vltra and other more-melodic-less-extreme black/death metal bands, without falling into clone band status. Just listen to Molten Hands Reach West to get an impression.
