this one technically isn't a Doors song, it's a poem by Jimbo set to piano music by a boomer who likes The Doors and released an album with piano versions of their songs

as someone who has heard those records tripping yes its a good experience, i have a huge trip catalog though, lots of shoegaze, lots of folk, lots of experimental, lots of progressive, 90s semi underground shit, it became an obsession of seeking the different sensations each of these create when you're tripping balls, lots of new wave/post punk, Funkentelchy vs the Placebo Syndrome was great, Trout Mask had me rolling, Royal Trux even funnier, took me a long time but I got the balls to listen to Swans tripping and that was as much a revelation as the other weirder ones

i wouldn't make the time to do that kind of thing anymore I haven't done LSD in 4 or 5 years, all of that experience was from age 14 to 24 and at my peak around age 18 I was doing it once a month, after that wild year I chose to real it back but when you listen to 5 or 6 albums every trip even if you did acid once a year in 4 years you'd have covered 20 different extremely distinct experiences, i'd recommend tripping annually until you decide you're over it, and yeah LSD makes music sound much better than shrooms. A lot of people talk about watching movies or going outdoors when tripping but after hearing my first few albums tripping it became my favorite thing to do on psychs, I was already a huge music listener but once you try it on LSD its like you're hearing the real sound beneath the music, you feel the soul of it

How the fuck can you handle that much hard drugs without going insane?
I had psychosis from fucking weed, i understand im probably sensitive and stuff and thats not everyones experience but STILL tripping balls on LSD once a month sounds like some shit that syd barret's you permanently

unless you're already schizophrenic adjacent LSD doesn't make you go crazy at worst to a normal person it could make you depressed, this is pretty widely accepted scientifically regarding the drug, bottom line its not a hard drug in the way that most are. I had a friend who made these new degenerate buddies and they were taking acid literally every other day, now those fucking guys had their heads in the clouds, absolutely obnoxious hanging out with people that trip that often, I at least had the decency to stay away from my friends when I tripped besides whomever I was tripping with. Tolerance builds very quickly with LSD. I've tripped probably 80 times in my life and it almost never leaves any lasting change except for maybe the day after

also I'm gonna add one thing most people don't know, sex on LSD is fucking amazing after you get off the initial weirdness, like cooming into the vagina of the universe. Despite tripping a lot I am not one of those "i never get bad trips" guy in fact I got so many bad trips I began to expect it and kinda evolved into the type of guy who can joke incredibly morbidly while I tripped, I had a famous rant about chopping up body parts when I was frying hard. I'll repeat I haven't tripped in 5 years cause I'm over it I'd rather do uppers or opiates

yeah gotcha, if you go insane you're "schizophrenic adjacent" and if you dont your're "normal"
talk about hindsight bias
i really read many testimonies of people going completely batshit from shrooms or lsd and they were normal people beforehand

schizophrenic predisposed could be a better word for you. its pretty norm research wise for LSD to be considered physically harmless

>5 or 6 albums every trip
naaah too much for me. id do maybe 2 or 3 and then fuck around with other stuff besides music tho I love music. i get scared easily lol. my 3 mushroom experiences so far have been anxiety loop, shitty headache, and crying for hours.
>LSD makes music sound much better than shrooms
ill have to get into lsd, never tried it but a friend says its much less introspective and more physical.
enough about drugs back to the thread. Light my fire is one of the best songs ever we all agree? no one does shit like that neither then nor now.
