I really enjoy Oingo Boingo's unique sound, it's like every song is a different adventure. What does /mu/ think of Oingo Boingo?

I really enjoy Good for Your Soul and the songs on it.

Think Elfman's voice is underappreciated, guy has a very big range with a good amount of power

Yeah, the range he has on some songs, like Nasty Habits, is outrageous. He just goes up and down from normal to manic so quickly.

I'm very partial to their early Post-Punk sound on the first 3 albums but I love a majority of their output all the same. Listen to picrel if you haven't, It's practically an Oingo Boingo record.

Gave this album and Nothing to Fear a listen for the first time recently and every single song in both has been stuck in my head since. It's been a real challenge not to over-listen and wear them out.

Favourites include:
fucking all of them

Only a Lad is good but I feel like Nothing to Fear is really solid. I just feel like I hear Only a Lad more often.

I think my favorite song with him on vocals alone is Stay, I love how melancholy the whole track feels, despite how it moves.

Only a Lad is post punky to an extent by way of XTC, but yeah to call them a post punk band is pretty silly

I think the number of standout tracks on Only A Lad is greater, but my favorite Oingo Boingo songs are on Nothing to Fear.
