You're both wrong, a Liminal Space originally just refered to areas that were meant to be purely transient like a hallway or outdoor walkway, it's a place that was not intended by its designers for you to be in for very long, and so when taken out of this context, when you're forced to look at them, they illicit an uneasy feeling.
