>>126779244You sure moved those goalposts far, I can barely see them from here.
The point us that not every punk band was in lockstep with establishment left wing politics. That there were bands who eschewed left wing politics and embraced "chud" messaging or aesthetics either to be edgy or because they considered it more punk to piss off preachy left wing punks and the "Maximum Rocknroll" crowd.
A few I'm aware of: Ramones, Sex Pistols, Fear, Teenage Queers, The Exploited, Gang Green, The FU's, The Vandals, Vile, White Pride, Ism, Chronic Sick, VKTMS, Hypnotics, Iron Cross, Last Rights (as well as most bands frontman Jack Kelly aka "Choke" was involved with), Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags.
And while not expressed in their music or image, the Bad Brains tried to assault the frontman of the Big Boys for being homosexual. Literal gay-bashing was also said to be common in the New York scene, with bands like Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front accused of taking part in it.
So as others ITT have indicated, real life is shades of gray and to claim that punk was always strictly left wing is revisionist fiction. Especially when you had punk darlings like the Bad Brains that every punk band in America worshipped ranting about faggots and even getting violent about it. Punk was more diverse than modern punks want to admit.
