>I first saw Miles Davis performing in a club in San Francisco in 1962. After the set was done I walked up to him and introduced myself. He refused to say anything and just turned his back to me.
>But in 1962 you hadn't yet recorded anything.
>That doesn't matter. He had his chance.

As a Zappa fan, that one never really clicked with me. You may really like it though. Any of his albums between 1966 and 1979 are worth checking out. I don't come to /mu/ much so I don't understand why people on here hate him as much as they do, but if his material ends up clicking with you then you've got a whole lot of great stuff to discover! His live recordings are where his band really gets to shine and Zappa in New York is a great starting place for that stuff.

Thanks. I'm a Beefheart guy who never heard much Frank (other than the Mothers) but I've heard good things about Uncle Meat.

Hardcore Zappaheads probably hate it but Valley Girl is pretty wild (I mean the instrumental track mostly) for a top 40 hit. Dr. Demento used to play some of his tunes on his radio show too.

Anon meant as a general term for posters. Probably should have said anons and the intent was not to mean this specific imaginary anon who posts rants about Mitch Miller pop hits that some people think is a real guy.

Bit of a shame that she wanted to be a serious jazz singer and was flogged into singing Mitch Miller slop even if she did later get to do the kind of music she actually wanted to be doing.

The other day when we had the /mu/ in 1973 thread one anon (maybe it was that guy but maybe not) made a cheeky post about some shitty late career Teresa Brewer album from the 70s that nobody bought and this poster was "oh fuck you for even bringing her up just just fuck you." Well we kind of turned it back on him in an entertaining manner but you'd have to read the thread in the archive not spoon-feeding anyone about it.
