>>126768425cold hard truth
its just in you or it isn't, unless you were a consummate professional since childhood like MJ you aren't cranking out hit after hit for decades. Even with training you are just going to make the same songs everyone else who had that training is already making. Its so much harder to set a trend than follow.
Most bands are lucky if they get a single hit before fading into obscurity.
>>126768451I'll be the first to tell you I'm not a good guitarist. The way some guitarists can just enter most situations and rip it up get all my respect. I'm not one of them. It's always annoyed me that people just want me to play bass. lol. I'm just not intimidated by that the way I am being putting on the spot with a guitar.
>>126768478can you for once in your pathetic existence not be a smarmy piece of shit? this facade of "I'm so cool I know it all" is childish.
Hey I'm Hard Rock Joe and its not about writing hits or even unique songs, listen to any rock and roll song dude, they all sound the same...Its about the attitude and getting out there and rocking out man! haha, Rock on dudes!
>>126768488How do I know if I have it in me if I haven’t even begun?
I have no training on guitar I just started playing a few months ago, I do have ideas for music I want to make though.
>>126768488its much more complicated than you got it or not.
most people can come up with a concept infact a lot of popstars today just rely on a producer to create or flesh out songs. you may be really good with lyrics but shitty with other aspects of songwriting. This is the reason a lot of people work with other musicians to create music.
im lucky to work with people who can help manifest ideas i have.
im good at writing hooks and melodies but bad at fleshing out full songs. nevertheless i get more joy out of writing songs than i do playing guitar solos or lead
>>126768501Your cold hard truth is just recycled hot takes though.
>>126768550Post some of your work
>>126768539Then you have it, you have what most don't and that is an actual destination and piece in your mind. Everything you learn should be trying to realize that idea from your head into the world. You should sing as well even if you have no plans of singing for a track, it helps you form the music.
>>126768488this is complete bullshit. anyone can write a song and most pros suck at it. if you care about what people think sure you might not be able to get a bunch of normie faggots convinced that you don't suck dick but if you manage to do that you most certainly do
>>126768578making music with a destination 'in mind' is retarded
>>126768578Oh yeah I want to sing. I’m okay at singing but I definitely need work, I don’t really know how to practice it though.

>>126768568i wont post vocals for this because i dont want ot be made fun of.

>>126768582The amount of good parody lyrics even on this board tells me there's probably some clever songwriters here. They just don't apply themselves and take it seriously.
Or just telling a good joke the right way is related...There's poetry to it. But again, they don't apply themselves.
>>126768593The guitar is just a tool to facilitate whats in your mind to the world, if theres nothing in your mind you sound like shit I don't care who you are and I don't even need to bother listening to it.

>>126768687i'm gonna reiterate this for anyone who actually cares about making music. i've been doing it for a long time. "applying yourself" to "flesh out a concept" "in your mind" is how you make really gay music. just do what sounds good and see what happens. let it unfold the way it's gonna unfold. the creative process gets stifled every time you think to yourself how can i make this x way instead of just seeing what develops.

>>126768977You should buy in store if you can because then you can check for fret sprout, uneven frets, tooling marks, and all that other shit QC slips up on. Retailers will also usually offer set-ups when you buy from them, but the quality of that service can vary quite a lot. You'd probably be better off just learning how to set the thing up yourself.
If you're only going to use the amp at home then a Boss Katana like the other guy recommended is a pretty standard go-to, but you could also check some non-amp options such as the Mustang Micro Plus or the Valeton GP-5 which both work straight into headphones.
I've bought guitars online that showed up with nearly unplayable frets or had someone at FedEx take a fucking butcher's knife to the instrument or even just had the FedEx guy steal the fucking thing, so I'd definitely go to a physical store if it's not terribly inconvenient.

I think I'll try guitar again. Going to see if the music shop i got the weird synth pedal from has anything cheap I could trade for. If I can make it there tonight I'll grab something but if not tomorrow.
Am i being a retard and blaming my tools?
Im trying to practice tremolo for them 16th notes and i found it sounds much better if i play closer to the bridge where there is more tension, basically positioning ontop of the right pickup. The problem is i no longer have room to rest my hand on the bridge if i shift my hand to the right.
Am i being a retard and simply playing wrong by doing this? I have only ever played on les pauls so do other bridges have an easier time of playing 16th notes?
>>126771946Have you considered heavier string gauges?

>>126771946Some bridges are definitely more accommodating for anchoring, but it also depends on the person. I find the traditional tele bridge to be really nice because it has a lip you can plant your hand onto.
I'm not sure if anchoring would be best for tremolo picking, though. You might want to keep your hand above the body of the guitar for better motion.

Is there something you can rub on them to make them darker?
>>126776526well you could do what i suggested or do what you want to do really i don't care at all.
but it's not the sort of thing you get in time. you either do it or you don't. most people don't. justin guitar never did.
>>126776563Do you ever base where you start off songs you like?
>>126776526you are approaching this from a clinical perspective, just have fun with it and do whatever. seriously.
Is there a looper pedal that also records your clips to an SD card or something, so you can import them into your DAW for arranging/making super rough demo tracks?
>>126776479The classic Carvin look was so kino. Wish they still looked like that. Post some samples playing that?
>>126776589I think some of the higher end Boss ones do (500 series or something?). But the RC-5 can upload your loops to a computer via USB. Not the RC-1 afaik.
>>126776559Stains, bare rosewood all look pale and light until you stain them
>>126776589Why not just play from your pc to begin with? All daw do looping
>been thinking about a Music Man Sabre I or II
>don’t want to spend $2k on a 40 year old guitar
>thinking about sticking a loaded HH pickguard in one of my Strats that’s already rounded for humbuckers under the pickguard and making the Sabre we have at home
>>126776673Whom are you quoting?
>>126776682I’m not I’m meme arrowing retard newfag
>>126776589pock loop has a bank of 11. I can plug that into a recording interface or reamp it if I want to play drums. I think it's a nano loop clone idk. For $30 it's better than replacing the switch on my ditto.
>>126776673I would tell you to avoid those original music mans, unless you played one personally that turned out well. They have weird electronics. I'm not sure if Leo also designed those, but the original Stingrays also had overly bright pups. His ears were shot at that point (if you know his story, he had an accident years prior where he ruined his hearing).
Re organized the pedals. Now the top 4 are for guitar and the bottom 5 for bass. FS for the drum machine.
>>126776618>The classic Carvin look was so kinoI really want another one (or two) but the prices are all over the place and you have to hope the past 40 years have been good to it. I found this one in person luckily and was able to go over it.
>Post some samples playing that?I can post some tomorrow, missus is already asleep. I need to get my recording gear back in place anyway so I'll throw something up while dialing it back in.
>>126775280Nah man, LP's make tall dudes look like absolute gods.
>>126776622You're right; looks like EHX 1440 can also import/export .wav files via USB.
>>126776669You gotta turn on your PC and open your DAW. Talk about killing the vibe, man.
>>126776701Nice budget option; haven't heard of this one before. Thanks.
>>126775280Despite the shorter scale length they're alsmost exactly the same size as teles or strats tho
>>126776827PC = always on
DAW always open
Guitar, always plugged in
Fuckin amatuers man i stg
>>126768805lol you should do a whole album
>Form C triad on piano
>Move shape up so root is every note in C scale
>It's the chord sequence in key of C
My mind is continually blown by piano why does it mog guitar so much
>>126776167its not about the time you spend practicing its what you practice, 3 hours of mindlessly drilling scales isn't going to be near as effective as actually pushing your boundaries and learning new things that are uncomfortable for you
>>126777099Guitar mogs piano when transcribing, changing key is as simple as moving the root on guitar, piano you gotta learn an entirely different pattern for each key
>>126777113Yeah but guitar is just so much rote memorization in hindsight and it all clicks when you do it on a keyboard
>>126777077You're always in front of your computer?
[spoilersdon'texistonmuiknow]I am and I hate it [/spoilersdon'texistonmuiknow]
Upon further research, I'm leaning towards getting a Boss BR BR-80.

>>126777099Now try that in the other keys.
>>126776284welcome to the offset club I guess
now go listen to some records by Dinosaur Jr, Elvis Costello, Sonic Youth, Wilco and Number Girl
>>126777169no but its still always on, why would i ever turn it off?
>>126777131piano is mechanically easier to play but its dumb because anything you can do on a keyboard would be better done by just tracking it on your PC.
Theres literally no reason to play keyboard physically at all.
>>126777169cockbreaker ahh recorder solution.
>>126777208I've listened to all of them besides Wilco. I'll give them a try. I've been listening to a lot of simply saucer and reading their book. It really made me wanna give guitar a 2nd chance
Scarlett focusrite, anything 3rd gen and later

Guitar Rig 6 (7 has been trannified)

simple as
>>126777249something plexi something boogie
>>126777235I mean if you're producing music isn't it way better and easier to play what you want and have the pc record the midi instead of inputting it note by note with a mouse
>>126777169Fair
>>126777235Could say this about any instrument
>>126777246Good on ya senpai
keep it up
>>126777246Listen to Television/Tom Verlaine
>>126777265Depends on your skill set and what you're trying to play.
One of you is the worst guitarist I think I've ever heard and I'm not going to say who.

Sorry I’m new to /guitar/
Just found this person today.
It’s pretty good at hair metal guitar.
But for the life of me, I can’t tell what sex it is.
Does anyone know? I’m thinking trans female, but I’m not 100% certain.
>>126777596It's a dude, bro.
Would it be worthwhile paying $200 for an Epiphone SG listed as in mint condition?
https://voca.ro/14YIV2gzBFGX
>>126777604I think you’re right, but it’s strange that there’s no evidence of its sex online. Usually Wikipedia will say something like “originally named so and so”
>>126777596does it really matter bro shes not gonna fuck you either way
https://voca.ro/1jLD9pHVhvBd
>>126777630I don’t want to have sex with it, I just want to know if a girl can play that well. Only Michael Jackson’s guitarist and Alice Cooper’s guitarist are the only female guitarists I’ve ever known of that can play well. So this Kayla person would be the third if it was a female. But I guess not.
>>126775665Costco also has vox AC30s for about 799$ right now, I don't have a use for one though.

I got my Gibson L4CES at Costco for $1199.
